Tire Amnesty Day in Northern Brown County is TOMORROW. It is in Fayetteville at the Township Building (3854 St. Rt. 50) from 9am til 2 pm.⚙️⚙️♻♻

And if you are at the fair tomorrow, there are tire amnesty days on October 10th in Ripley and Aberdeen, and October 17th in Georgetown.

Interested in a career as a lineman? Applications for the ALBAT Lineman Apprenticeship open for one week only.

The program will take applications for the IBEW Local Union 71 jurisdiction from Monday, October 5 through Sunday, October 11, 2026. Applications are online only at www.albat.org during those dates. The site is on Eastern Time, so do not wait until the last hour.

Before you apply, line up what you will need:

You must be at least 18, able to work legally in the United States, and have a valid Social Security number
You must be able to read, hear, speak, and understand instructions and warnings in English
A $25 application fee (nonrefundable)
Education records that apply to you: a high school transcript with graduation date or a diploma, a GED exam score or GED certificate, and/or an associate degree or higher
A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes, or a valid driver’s license plus a Class A CDL Temporary Permit with air brakes. Date of birth and expiration date must be visible. It must be valid when you apply and when you are selected.
A resume of current and previous employers, if any
Veterans: a DD-214
Every applicant will be scheduled for an aptitude test and must complete it before an interview. Full qualifications are on the flyer.

Brown County Fair Bale 2026 on the corner of Main and Grant. Our blue bins are all around the fairgrounds, use them for your plastic bottles, and aluminum cans. Be sure to stop by the Green Machine to chat about recycling. Good luck to all the exhibitors, derby drivers, horse riders, and tractor pullers. See you at the fair!
