This week marks 20 years since Georgetown College lost two alumni, Lauren Fannin and Lindsey Harp, both members of KD Beta Lambda, who died in Lexington's historic 2006 flash flood.

Lauren and Lindsey carried their Georgetown bond with them as they pursued careers in nursing and pharmacy. Two decades later, their memory is still very much alive at Georgetown College and in the memorial scholarship that continues to help our students chase the same kind of futures Lauren and Lindsey were building.

It has been 20 years since flash flooding in Lexington killed two young women, in what WKYT Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey calls the worst flash flooding the city has seen in modern history.

Dr. Roger Ward’s Philosophy of Law class hosted Judge Gerald R. Parker ’04 of the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, General Division. When elected, Parker became Montgomery County’s first Black male to serve in the position. He spoke about the intersection of justice and mercy. As a GC student, Parker captained the 2004 GC Championship Football team. He recently served GC as a Board of Trustees member. We loved having you back on campus! Wendell Berry, farmer, writer, and intellectual, who influenced Kentucky, the Nation, and Georgetown College, died yesterday, August 31, 2026. Berry taught and lectured at GC. He noted his stint teaching at Georgetown in 1957/58 in his book The Hidden Wound. Berry’s visits to campus spanned the decades and benefited everyone who had the opportunity to engage with him. Yesterday was a beautiful day on campus with outdoor dining, music, and dozens of organizations, sororities, and fraternities engaging with students. The Fish Fry and Involvement Fair on Robert N.
