We provide assistance to state inmates at the Georgetown County Detention Center. Volunteers assist with classes as needed and available.
Georgetown County Sheriff's Reentry Program offers men opportunities for education, job training, and life skills development while completing their sentences for SCDC. We offer an intense case management program to the sentenced South Carolina Department of Corrections inmates that are selected and arrive at the Detention Center to work in various county positions, learning career skills. The inmates learn valuable hands on skills under the supervision of Georgetown County Public Service workers. The inmates attend classes after their daily work detail at the Reentry Building. The classes consist of Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), which upon passing test, they receive state and federal certifications, Equipment & Engine Certification, Auto Body, Barbering, Life Skills, Several computer courses, Languages, Art and Business Courses, several other classes are available depending upon individual inmates interests and needs. The Purpose of the GCSO Reentry Services page is to inform volunteers, potential volunteers, inmates families, and friends to enable them to have up to date information about the program. We do however, request that you do not use profanity in posting and respect the views of others. Due to the nature of this site, we have no choice but to remove any postings that violate the standards we have asked you to adhere to . Thank You and we hope you enjoy watching our progress.

The calendar says the drawing is still 17 days away. Looks like you have plenty of time to get around to buying that raffle ticket.
On the other hand, we’re selling only 150 tickets total, and a bunch of those are already gone.

Without the support of Amazing Journey Inc., most of what we do wouldn’t be possible.
Thank you!

First Wednesday after Labor Day = the start of a new welding class.
Time for men in the Sheriff’s Reentry Program to get back to work on those next-level welding certificates. And time to put the finishing touches on a couple projects. Stay tuned.

The Sheriff’s Reentry Program is proud to continue supporting William in his return from incarceration.
William spent 14 months in the reentry program, earning a welding certificate, passing the first half of his GED, completing The Fatherhood Initiative, participating in our Leadership Academy, and even leading a book study on post-incarceration.
William was granted parole and accepted into a residential recovery center where he’s already started working, making positive friends, and continuing his journey of personal and relational restoration. He’ll soon be resuming his GED studies, and we’re looking forward to sharing in his continued progress.
A huge thanks to Club 142 United for supplying every single item on William’s registry, all in less than one week!

Another GED exam complete!
After the test: “uh, I don’t know about that. I think I might’ve done okay, but I’m not sure. That one was tough.”
Yeah, he finished with more than enough correct answers and 10 minutes to spare. And he found out he kind of likes science after all.
Half way there!
