The Locker

This is what community looks like.

Last month, Hope Convo made an incredibly generous donation of food and shoes to the County Juvenile Services for its Back-to-School event. When there were items left over, they partnered with The Locker to make sure those donations kept doing good.

After distributing cases of food and shoes to local schools, we connected with , , and other local nonprofits to get the remaining items where they were needed most— making sure nothing went to waste.

And THIS is one of the things that makes Georgetown so special. ❤️

It also goes right back to what we teach our students through service learning: See a problem. Identify the need. Then do the work to help solve it.

No one organization has to do everything. But when schools, nonprofits, community partners, and generous donors work together, resources go further, more people are reached, and good things don't go to waste.

We talk a lot about saying YES.

YES to the student who needs help paying an athletic fee.
YES to the AP test.
YES to the cap and gown.
YES to the glasses, the clothes, the unexpected need no one saw coming.

Because when a student needs help, the last thing we want to say is no.

So, we’ve been working on a new way for our community to help us keep saying YES—and this one is all about giving directly to the mission.

No event. No ticket. Just impact.

What is The Locker?

The Locker is all about kids helping kids. Through service learning, we empower students to recognize needs within their own communities and be part of meeting them—while making sure their peers have what they need to thrive at school.

💡 Did you know? The Locker does not have income qualifications or eligibility requirements for students who need our help.

We don't know what is happening at home, and we don't believe a student should have to prove their circumstances to receive support. If a need is identified, we are there to help—because whatever may be happening outside of school shouldn't stand in the way of the education, experiences, and opportunities every student deserves.

In GISD, that might mean helping with athletic meals or fees, AP testing, caps and gowns, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, activity costs, or another one-to-one need identified by counselors and school staff.

Sometimes a seemingly small need can be the difference between a student participating or sitting out, feeling included or feeling left behind.

If there is a need and we can help, we say YES.

On Friday, March 5, 2027, The Locker is going back to school for The Ultimate Class Reunion — an unforgettable evening built around school spirit, community and, most importantly, investing in local kids.

Had a great time checking in on our Locker program in Seguin! They are currently having their Locker Awareness Week and already have two more events planned for this Fall! These kids are awesome. They really get Kids Helping Kids!
