DAY 28 β€” HONORING A LEGACY
29 Years of Service. A Legacy That Lives On.

Today, as we celebrate 29 Days of Diabetes, we pause to honor the life, vision, and legacy of Florene Linnen, Founder of the Georgetown County Diabetes CORE Group.

In 1997, Florene had a vision to bring diabetes education, prevention, awareness, and support into the community. For 29 years, that vision has continued through community outreach, diabetes education, health fairs, screenings, educational resources, and opportunities to help individuals and families make healthier choices.

Her vision. Her heart. Our continuing mission.

As we look back at where we started and celebrate where we are today, we are committed to carrying her vision forward and continuing to serve our community.

πŸŽ‰ 29 Years of Service β€” 1997–2026
πŸ’™ Know It. Prevent It. Manage It. Live.

What is one word you would use to describe Florene’s impact on our community?

29 YEARS OF SERVICE.

29 years of education.
29 years of outreach.
29 years of community.
29 years of caring.
29 years of changing lives.

We honor the vision that started the Georgetown County Diabetes CORE Group and celebrate everyone who has helped carry that vision forward.

πŸ’™ 29 years strongβ€”and our work continues!

You don't have to start with an hour.

Start with 10 minutes.

Walk around your neighborhood.
Walk around the building.
Walk while talking on the phone.

TODAY'S GOAL:

10 minutes of movement.

Ready?

Comment 🚢 I'M WALKING!

09/24/2026

Healthy habits are easier when we do them together!

Tonight, challenge your family to:

🚢 Take a walk
πŸ₯— Make a healthy meal
πŸ’§ Drink more water
🎢 Dance together

Tag someone you're bringing along on your health journey!

Don't ignore changes in your health.

If you have diabetes or are concerned about your blood sugar, talk with your healthcare provider about symptoms, testing, and what to do when your blood sugar is too high or too low.

When in doubtβ€”ASK.

09/22/2026

Today's challenge:

Swap ONE sugary drink for water.

That's it.

One drink.
One choice.
One healthier habit.

πŸ’§ Who's taking the challenge?

09/21/2026

Feeling fine doesn't always mean everything is fine.

Regular healthcare visits can help you monitor your diabetes and identify problems early.

πŸ“… Make the appointment.
πŸ“‹ Ask questions.
🩺 Know your numbers.

Your health is worth the appointment!

09/20/2026

Prediabetes means your blood sugar is higher than normal but not yet in the diabetes range.

Here's the important part:

Prediabetes doesn't mean you should give up.

Healthy eating, increased physical activity, and other lifestyle changes can help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.

πŸ’™ Know your risk. Take action.
