Sonora is Mexican low-carb baking mixes with love from Lupita & Mike at Ketolicious Kitchens. Hi! I’m Lupita and I’d like to share with you the story of Sonora.
It’s a story that begins for a very personal reason. It starts with family — my grandmother and mother both lost limbs and suffered heart problems due to complications from diabetes and also saw very close friends die from the same disease. While diabetes ultimately claimed my grandmother's life, I’ve made it a mission to help my mom manage the disease with better food choices. Frustrated with each visit to the grocery store resulting in finding nothing on the shelves to satisfy my mom's sweet tooth, I realized I could make delicious and healthy breads, desserts, and meals myself. These foods call back to the flavors and comfort from where we came: Sonora, Mexico. Further, I realized I could do this not just for close family, but also share them with friends and others who are looking to combat diabetes, lose weight, or simply eat healthy. From making these recipes grew the idea that we could help others more by sharing these recipes! So rather than only making meals, we now share these recipes and dry mixes with everyone around the world via this website. In a nod to my Mexican birthplace, we named the brand Sonora. To me, it means flavor, family and home. My husband Mike and I experienced first-hand the benefits of a low-carb Ketogenic diet by losing weight and lowering our A1C's. We believe there is an enormous lack of options for Keto-friendly breads and desserts and hope this effort will help others stay in the fight for good health! It’s been a winding, crazy, but fun road! I hope you feel the love in every bag and taste the flavor of my birthplace! Stay healthy and happy!

I started developing these mixes because I wanted my diabetic mom to be able to enjoy the comfort foods she loved again. For me, that included hot bread pulled straight from the oven. 🍞
