Meet our two newest Shelties! They were surrendered due to medical issues within the family.

Kiva (the lighter one) is a 4-year-old feisty girl who is social and active. She has some agility training under her belt and loves to play—especially a good game of fetch! Kiva is alert and will alert to activity around the neighborhood, and we’re told she also tends to bark at other dogs while on walks. She would likely do best in a home with older children and is not a good match for homes with cats. Kiva will need to be spayed and brought up to date on her vet care. At this time, we are not aware of any health concerns.

Gioia is the darker sheltie, a sweet 8-year-old girl who would likely do best in a quieter home. She reportedly prefers a calm environment and isn’t fond of younger, more energetic dogs that want to play. She would do best with older children and, like Kiva, is not considered cat-friendly. Gioia is not a frequent barker and seems to be a bit shy at first, but she enjoys walks, playing fetch, and catching balls. She will need to be spayed and brought current on her vaccinations. We are not aware of any medical issues.

These girls do not need to be adopted together, they are not bonded and don’t really seem to care for each other. If interested in either Sheltie please submit an application at www.swcsrescue.com

Remember hugging that teddy bear when you were a kid? Well here’s another chance to hug a Bear of your very own. Meet our newest collie Bear!

Bear was originally adopted from rescue shortly after he arrived in September 2024. Bear's owner recently passed away and he is back with us. He is a handsome blue merle who is approximately 10 years old. He seems like a laidback guy, he has been good with dogs, but no cat history. We will be getting him into the vet but we are not aware of any medical issues.

Bear would probably prefer a quieter household to spend his days in.

Louie had a big day yesterday making his way from his foster home in AZ to his new family in NM. After a good nights rest he and his family were up bright and early today taking a hike together and then he got to play some frisbee in the yard with his new buddy Zen. Congrats to Louie, Jerilyn, Blaine and Zen! Happy life Louie 💕🐾

So sorry to receive this news from Jojo’s family. Our condolences on the loss of your boy 🌈🐾

We had to let our little Jojo go on June 16th after many wonderful years of love from this sassy little guy with a big personality. We are so grateful to SWCSR for offering him a safe place to land and bringing him into our lives.

🐾 Upcoming Microchip Clinic 🐾

Want a simple and affordable way to get microchips and vaccines? The Coalition of All Breed Rescue of Arizona (CABRA), a nonprofit IRS 501(c)(3) organization, is hosting another low-cost microchip and vaccination clinic.

Sunday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University of Arizona Maricopa County Cooperative Extension building, located at 4341 E. Broadway in Phoenix (around 43rd Place and Broadway, near the traffic light).

No appointment is needed—just swing by! Here are some other perks:

· The HomeAgain microchip, which includes registration, is just $20 each.

· Vaccinations (parvo/distemper, rabies, or bordatella) are only $15 each if your dog or cat has a microchip or already has one ($20 each if they don’t). We also offer the cat equivalent of distemper shots at the same prices.

· There’s no office visit fee.

· Open to everyone—just come and visit!

· We accept cash, checks, debit, or credit.

We work with a licensed vet for both microchips and shots.

Microchips are becoming more and more important for helping lost pets find their way back to their owners, sometimes after years of being gone. These prices are hard to beat!

Annabelle recently took her first road trip with us, to visit friends in Texas! We just returned a couple of days ago. She is an excellent traveler! And, she & Sailor have become great buddies! 🐶❤️🐶 Thought you might enjoy seeing a few photos. We are soooo grateful for the opportunity to adopt Annabelle! Thank you!! She is such a sweet, smart, adorable little girl! We L❤️V🐾 her SO much!!
