Today is National Seat Check Saturday, marking the end of Child Passenger Safety Week. Car seat safety doesn't stop once your child outgrows their car seat. The right fit changes as they grow, and a lot of parents don't realize their child still needs a booster well into elementary school.

Yesterday, one of our crews had the chance to do something small that meant a lot.

Kaleb and his mom got a flat tire right outside Fire Station 6. She was ready to call roadside assistance, but Kaleb had a different idea: "Let's ask the firefighters."

Our crew was in the middle of physical training when Kaleb walked over and asked for help. Without hesitation, two firefighters came out to get the spare tire ready, then a third walked over and asked Kaleb if he knew how to change a tire. "No, sir, unfortunately, I do not," Kaleb admitted. Kaleb's mom shared that he'd always wanted to know how, and this was the perfect chance, so the firefighter told him, "Well, you are going to learn today!"

Our crew coached him through it step by step.

Way to go, Kaleb! We're glad we could help. 🙌

If you're out on the roads, never drive through flooded roadways or lanes with pooling water. Turn around and find another route. 🚗

If you encounter heavy rain or a dust storm, remember: Pull Aside. Stay Alive. Never drive through flooded roadways.

25 years later, this annual gathering remains a powerful reminder of the compassion, strength and unity that brings us all together.

Waymo has expanded their service to Gilbert, and Gilbert Fire and Rescue is ready. 🚗

As autonomous vehicles become part of our community, our firefighters trained hands-on with Waymo to better understand how these vehicles operate. From safely approaching the vehicle during an emergency to manually moving or operating it and rescuing someone from inside if needed, this training ensures our crews are prepared for whatever comes their way.

Join Gilbert Fire & Rescue and the Gilbert Police Department as we come together to remember the lives lost and honor the brave first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

🕡 Ceremony begins at 6:30 PM, with the Tribute in Light to follow
📍 9/11 Memorial Plaza, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85296
🪑 Seating is limited. Please feel free to bring a chair or blanket for additional lawn seating.

Before the ceremony, from 5 to 6:30 PM, community members of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on service activities. We’ll create items to support foster children, refugees, seniors and others in need.

Together, we remember through service. Never forget. 🇺🇸

Twelve of our own just leveled up. 🚒

Garrett Foster, Zach Gonzalez, Justin Greenbauer, Josh Hohman, Hunter Lane, Brandon Lignoski, Joe Reyes, Aley Roberts, Jessica Saldana, Zach Suprak, Brody White, and Maximilian Wulf all put in the training and testing it takes to run our apparatus, and today that work pays off.

Being an Engineer means knowing every valve, every gauge, every quirk that apparatus has picked up over the years, and being the one the crew counts on to get it right every single time. There is no room for guessing when lives are on the line. That is a position built on trust, and every one of these twelve has earned it.
