The Buzzed Goat is a locally owned Arizona coffee concept known for handcrafted coffee, cold brew, specialty lattes and a fun coffee-bar-meets-tap-house atmosphere. Their other locations also serve coffee cocktails, local b**r, w**e and more.

After our recent post about restaurants that may be struggling, Flancer’s owner Shane Lindsey reached out and shared that business has really slowed down over the past several years. Between rising costs, a new roof, and more competition, it has been a tough road.

Flancer’s has been part of the Gilbert community for almost 27 years, and places like this are what make Gilbert special. They are not a big chain. They are a local spot with history, heart, and some seriously amazing food.

We have been to Flancer’s many times over the years, and a few of my personal favorites are the Prickly Pear Sandwich, the Goat Cheese Bruschetta, and the Philly Cheesesteak.

If you have been meaning to go back, or have never tried them, this is a great time to support local.

🔥🍣 ROKA AKOR IS COMING TO GILBERT!

Gilbert’s restaurant scene is getting another BIG addition.

Roka Akor, the upscale Japanese steakhouse known for its dramatic robata grill, premium steaks, Wagyu, sushi and seafood, has confirmed plans to open a Gilbert location in 2027. 🥩🔥🍣

If you’ve been to their Scottsdale restaurant, you already know this isn’t your average sushi spot.

Expect things like:

🔥 Japanese robata-grilled steaks and seafood
🥩 Premium Wagyu and steak selections
🍣 Sushi and sashimi
🥢 Creative Japanese dishes
🍸 Cocktails, sake and Japanese wh**ky
✨ An upscale atmosphere built around the open-fire robata grill

The company is currently targeting a mid-2027 opening, with construction expected to begin ahead of the opening.

That might be the most interesting part. Roka Akor has confirmed Gilbert, but the exact location hasn’t been publicly announced yet. 👀

🍸 BIG UPDATE ON CLARE HOUSE SOCIAL IN DOWNTOWN GILBERT! 👀

We finally have a better idea of when Clare House Social could open, and it sounds like this one is going to be worth the wait.

The new restaurant at 309 N. Gilbert Road is currently targeting a late November 2026 opening, with the larger outdoor gathering yard expected to follow in early 2027.

Clare House Social is being developed around the historic Clare House, which dates back to 1918 and is being preserved as part of the project.

Behind the concept is restaurateur Nathan Ares, whose team has been behind concepts including Prep & Pastry and Commoner & Co.

So what can we expect?

🍔 Elevated but approachable American food
🥗 Salads, sandwiches and shareables
🐟 Entrées including salmon
🍸 Cocktails, b**r and w**e
🥞 Weekend brunch
🥐 Scratch-made breads and pastries
🥔 And some familiar favorites from Prep & Pastry

But the really interesting part may be what’s coming outside.

Plans call for a large gathering yard between the former Prep & Pastry space and the historic Clare House, complete with:

🌳 Landscaped outdoor space
🍺 Outdoor bar
📺 TVs
🍴 Walk-up food service
☀️ Large pergola and shaded gathering areas

The restaurant itself is expected to open first, with the outdoor portion following afterward.

Downtown Gilbert has changed a lot over the years, so it’s pretty cool to see a project that brings something new while preserving a piece of Gilbert history.
