Widows with Kiddos
Rooted in God's heart- creating community, care & hope for widowed moms raising kids.

Yesterday, we celebrated America’s independence.
Today, let’s remember two women whose stories are rarely told.
🇺🇸 George Washington was raised by a widow… and later married one.
When George was just 11 years old, his father died, leaving his mother, Mary Ball Washington, to raise their family alone. Years later, George married Martha Custis, a widow and mother of two, whose strength, resilience, and wisdom would become an important part of his life.
History remembers our nation’s first president. But it often overlooks the widows who helped shape his character and his journey.
At Widows with Kiddos, we believe widows have always played a vital role in families, communities, and history. Their stories matter. Their perseverance matters. Their legacy matters.
As the celebrations of Independence Day fade, may we also take a moment to honor the quiet strength of widows—past and present—who continue to shape future generations.
🤍 Were you surprised to learn this piece of George Washington’s story? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

And a special thank you to Faithful Finds for choosing to partner with us through their raffle — it means so much and will directly support the moms in our community 🤍

We’re preparing a really special Mother’s Day dinner for widowed moms in our community 🤍
A space for them to be cared for, encouraged, and reminded they are not alone.
To make this night possible, we’re looking for volunteers to help love on their kids while the moms enjoy the evening.
✨ What we need:
• Kind, patient, loving people
• Comfortable watching young children
• Willing to complete a background check
This is such a meaningful way to serve — creating space for a mom to rest, breathe, and simply be cared for.
If you feel led to help, please DM us or reach out through our website 🤍
Thank you for being a community that shows up for others.
If Mother’s Day feels heavy this year… you’re not alone 🤍
We’re creating a space for widowed moms to be cared for, encouraged, and surrounded by women who understand.

Flour on our hands. Laughter in the kitchen. Hearts being gently held. 🤍
We’re gathering for a sweet evening of dinner, connection, and learning the art of sourdough together. This one is just for moms — a space to breathe, create, and be surrounded by women who understand.
There is something healing about working dough with your hands and remembering that beautiful things take time to rise.
If you’re a widowed mama in our community, we would love to have you join us. You are not alone here. 💛

We’re looking for local spas, nail salons, massage therapists and self-care businesses who would be willing to donate or discount a service or product from their business to help us bless widowed moms this Mother’s Day.
If you—or someone you know—offers a service or creates something that fits a self-care, rest, and renewal theme, we’d love to partner with you.
This is about gifting an experience or item that reminds these mamas they are seen, valued, and deeply cared for 🤍
DM us or tag a business below.
