🍂 Photos taken October 5, 2026
For this Outdoor Etiquette Tuesday, let's talk about the best ways to enjoy Golden's changing colors.
• Don't go off trail to take pictures or see colors. Don't hop fences, cross lines, or disobey signage. A lot of the time, it's there to protect flora and fauna.
• The trash in this photo was found on a casual stroll after a few minute walk. Even if you don't litter, someone else might. If it's safe to do so, pick up trash - yours or others.
• Don't. Pick. The. Leaves. If you want to hold one up for a photo, find one that has already fallen on the ground. Better yet, take a picture of your feet next to the leaves so you don't disturb any insects.
Enjoy leaf peeping season in Golden responsibly 🍁

Now that we're officially in fall, we're going to shine a light on a topic many hikers obviously know, but can easily forget about. As the sun goes down earlier, many parks in and around Golden close earlier.
Jefferson County Open Space parks close one hour after sunset. This means two different things in November and in July.
If you intend to hike after sunset, don't forget a headlamp. Relying on your cell phone flash light works in a pinch, but won't help conserve your battery if you're relying on your phone for navigation, or to use as an actual communication device.
