Goodyear crews assisted Avondale Fire with an apartment fire that started in a patio before extending to additional units and into the attic.

Crews worked to stop the fire and keep it from extending any further. No injuries were reported.

Incidents don’t stop at city boundaries, and neither does the response. Our departments regularly support one another when additional resources are needed, and we’re always glad to lend a hand to our neighbors.

If you come across a flooded roadway, don’t risk it.

MCSO, Arizona DPS, Maricopa Fire, Gila Bend Fire and Goodyear Fire responded today near SR 238 after a person became stranded in a flooded area.

The photos and video from the response are a good reminder for all of us with flooding in the area. Pay attention to changing conditions, avoid SR 238, and never assume a flooded roadway is safe to cross just because the water doesn’t look deep.

If there’s water covering the road, don’t try to drive through it. Turn around and find another way.

We’ve started noticing something about Captain Navarro.

A while back, the joke became simple: if the camera comes out, point at something so it looks like you’re in the middle of something important.

Captain Navarro committed to the bit.

Now, whenever he sees the camera, he points. Different call, different training, different day. Same move.

And lately, his crew seems to be catching on too.

Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the first responders who answered the call that morning, including 343 FDNY firefighters who never returned home.

A quarter century is a long time. Some remember exactly where they were when they heard the news. Others were children, and an entire generation has now grown up knowing September 11 only through the stories told to them.

As the years continue to pass, those stories become even more important to carry forward.

Today, we remember those who were lost, those who responded and the families whose lives were forever changed.
