The Year of the Snake is a surprisingly difficult theme to design for.

A snake can easily feel too bold, aggressive, or even a little intimidating—especially when the piece is being created for something as sweet as a first birthday celebration.

For this design, the goal was to make the snake feel elegant and celebratory, while still honoring the zodiac. More importantly, the entire piece needed to fit seamlessly into an event without the Year of the Snake theme overpowering everything around it.

It took over a week of refining the details until everything finally felt right.

The result is a Year of the Snake design that feels soft enough for a first birthday, yet timeless enough to become a keepsake long after the celebration is over.

This is the part of custom work you don’t always see: sometimes a design takes over a week of refining just to make the final result feel effortless.

Track your pack with this customized sign! This was a fun one to design.

Meet Demi - This name sign was hand-painted in custom colors to match the event’s exact palette — and yes, I made sure the backdrop name and first-year board name matched!

That’s the beauty of ordering your event pieces as a bundle: one cohesive look from every angle.

If you’re ordering multiple pieces for your celebration, don’t order them separately — bundle them so I can make sure your colors coordinate perfectly.

Custom doesn’t have to mean “close enough.”
It can mean made to match.

This custom hexagon-inspired backdrop piece was designed to feature Leo’s name in English, Korean, and Chinese—a beautiful way to bring all three languages together in one keepsake.

From the custom design to the finished piece, every detail was made specifically for this child's celebration.

And the best part? It made the journey home safely! Carefully packaged and shipped without any damage.

A little website refresh + a very cute custom project

The MikkoCreations website has officially gotten a revamp, making it easier to browse, find what you’re looking for, and submit a custom idea.

And this adorable sign is a perfect example of what you can create!

She used the website to custom design a sign featuring all four of her pups to know whether they are inside or outside the house, with their photos UV printed right onto it.

Take a peek at the refreshed website and, as always, if you have an idea you don’t see listed, you can send me an inquiry.
