Turning behavior data into meaningful action in the classroom!
Our BCESC Behavior Coaches, Dave Bell and Christy Eichhold, recently led the first session of Practical FBAs and BIPs: Data to Action in Real Classrooms, helping educators turn behavior data into practical strategies that better support students.
Through hands-on learning, collaboration, and coaching, participants explored how to identify behavior patterns, collect meaningful data, and develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) that lead to effective, realistic intervention plans.
In the second session, teams will take that work even further, using their data to develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) they can confidently put into practice.
We're proud to equip educators across our partnering school districts with tools that strengthen classrooms and help students thrive. It's another way we're partners in shaping lives!

Strong starts happen through caring relationships, meaningful learning, and families who feel supported.
October is Head Start Awareness Month! We’re celebrating the children, families, staff, and partners who make BCESC’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs such an important part of Butler and Preble counties.
During the 2025–26 program year, our programs served 748 children, including 657 preschoolers and 91 infants and toddlers. Each child brings their own strengths, curiosity, and possibilities—and our team is there to help them grow.

Meet our first **BCESC Beacon: Adam Doerger of Union Day Therapeutic School.**
Nominated by colleague Megan Hessling, Adam was recognized for the compassion, humor, reliability, and team-first mindset he brings to his work every day. Whether he is building meaningful relationships with students, stepping into challenging situations, supporting a colleague, or adapting his approach to help a student succeed, Adam demonstrates what it looks like to live the BCESC mission and core values through action.
The BCESC Beacon is a peer-nominated monthly recognition celebrating the people who make a meaningful difference for our students, families, colleagues, and communities.
Watch Adam’s surprise and see why his colleagues believe he represents what it means to be a BCESC Beacon.
**Congratulations, Adam!**

Today, we’re celebrating the people who help keep BCESC shining!
On Custodial Workers Day, we’re grateful for the dedicated custodial staff who work behind the scenes every day to make our buildings clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for the children, families, staff, and communities we serve.
While not all of our amazing custodial team members are pictured here, today’s shoutout is for every one of them! Your hard work, attention to detail, and willingness to step in wherever needed make a difference across our agency every day.
Being recognized as a Best Place to Work and Best Community Supporter in Butler County starts with our people. It’s our staff who make BCESC the best, and we’re proud to celebrate this incredible team today!
Thank you for all you do!

Building a more accessible digital experience starts with a plan—and a team.
Last week, we kicked off the first of four sessions in our Digital Accessibility Collaborative, bringing school district teams together to prepare for WCAG 2.1 compliance. Participants explored the guidelines, what compliance means for their districts, and how to build an internal task force and identify next steps toward implementation.
The work continues on December 8, when we’ll welcome Betsy Fuller, Communications Director at Lakota Local School District, and focus on developing district implementation and staff training plans.
These sessions are free for school district teams preparing for the April 2027 or 2028 compliance deadlines, and there’s still time to join us for the remaining sessions!

As Kinship Care Month comes to a close, our commitment to kinship families continues.
We are grateful for every grandparent, relative and family friend who has stepped forward to provide a child with care, stability and a place to belong. Your role matters, your family’s needs matter and asking for help is a sign of strength.
BCESC’s Kinship Navigator is available throughout the year to help Butler County families find answers, understand their options and connect with support. Whether you recently began caring for a loved one or have been navigating kinship care for years, we are ready to walk alongside you.

Thank you to Generations United for helping elevate the experiences of kinship families nationwide.

Connection, collaboration, and support for those supporting our students!
We had a great first Counselors’ Roundtable of the school year, bringing school counselors from across our partnering districts together to share ideas, discuss the needs they’re seeing in their schools, and connect with colleagues doing this important work.
Our next Roundtable is coming up October 21, and we’d love to have you join us! These gatherings are an opportunity to learn from one another, share resources, and strengthen the support we provide students and families across our region.

Sometimes the best support is having the right people in the room.
Our first Leaders’ Lens of the school year brought administrators, instructional coaches, teacher leaders, and other school leaders together to connect and collaborate around timely topics—from AI and student supports to legislative updates and career credentials.
Now, we’re getting ready to do it again!
Join us October 21 from 9–11 a.m. at BCESC as Barbie Gregory from Miami University Regionals | Ohio Career Pathway Support Network shares ways schools can strengthen career-connected learning and build connections among K–12 education, postsecondary opportunities, and our local workforce.
Come connect, collaborate, and leave with ideas you can put into action in your district.

Kinship families bring powerful strengths to children’s lives.
When children cannot remain with their parents, being cared for by relatives or close family friends can help preserve important family bonds, cultural connections, community relationships and a sense of belonging. These familiar connections can provide stability during a time of significant change.
At BCESC, we believe supporting children also means supporting the caregivers who step forward for them. Our Kinship Navigator works alongside Butler County families to identify needs, overcome barriers and connect with resources that can strengthen the entire family.

Happy HR Professionals Day!
Today, we recognize the HR professionals who help make it possible for great people to do meaningful work in support of students, families, and schools.
We’re especially grateful for our Butler County ESC Human Resources team, whose work reaches beyond our own agency. In addition to supporting BCESC employees throughout their careers, our team helps recruit and hire substitute teachers who step into classrooms throughout Butler County—helping our partnering school districts keep students learning and supported each day.
Much of their work happens behind the scenes, but its impact can be felt across our agency and throughout our public school community.
Thank you to our HR team for supporting the people who make our mission possible and helping us remain partners in shaping lives.
