Sometimes we think the answer is more pressure, more repetition, or trying harder.

But sometimes what a child really needs is for us to slow down, pay attention, and understand what helps learning click for them.

That doesn’t mean lowering expectations. It means becoming more intentional about how we reach the child in front of us.

Keep observing. Keep adjusting. Keep encouraging.

You may be closer to the breakthrough than you think. 📚🍎✏️

PART 1: LEARN THE CHILD IN FRONT OF YOU 📚🍎✏️

I really want to encourage a parent or educator today.

It is so easy to look at what another child is doing and start questioning the child in front of you.

Should they be reading by now?
Why did that child pick this up so quickly?
Why do I have to explain this again?
Am I doing enough?

Most of the time, those questions come from a good place. We care. We want our children to thrive. We want to know that they’re learning, growing, and making progress.

But comparison can make us miss something important:

Children do not all learn the same way, respond the same way, or develop on the exact same timeline.

Sometimes they need more time.

Sometimes they need more repetition.

And sometimes they simply need us to present the information differently.

They may need to see it.

They may need to hear it.

They may need to touch it, move it, build it, or do it.

They may need to read it or write it.

And what helps them today may even change depending on what they’re learning.

So instead of immediately thinking, “My child just doesn’t get it,” I want us to start asking a different question:

“What does the child in front of me need for this to make sense?”

That one question can change so much.

And parent, give yourself some grace too.

You do not have to know everything. You do not have to get everything right the first time. Part of becoming a confident educator is learning to observe, adjust, try again, and really get to know the child you’re teaching.

Different timing does not mean less potential.

So keep showing up. Keep encouraging. Keep paying attention to those little moments when something finally clicks.

You’re learning your child while they’re learning too, and you can do this. ❤️

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on this page, but today feels like the right day to come back and share my heart. ❤️

This past weekend, my oldest son graduated from high school with honors after being homeschooled for the past 12 years.

And honestly… that moment meant so much more than a graduation to me.

It was a reminder that even through hard seasons, struggles, disappointments, fear, financial hardship, and moments of feeling completely overwhelmed… God can still allow beautiful things to grow.

Years ago, I found myself unexpectedly raising my son as a single mom. Life did not go the way I thought it would. There were seasons where I felt exhausted, discouraged, unqualified, and unsure if I was doing enough as a parent.

But one thing I never stopped doing was fighting for my child.

And over the years, God began placing something very heavy on my heart:

Families need support.
Parents need confidence.
Children need stronger foundations.
And education should feel possible for ALL families, not just those with unlimited money, childcare, private schools, tutors, or extra help.

That is one of the reasons The Fun Learning Zone was created. ❤️

This page is getting ready to become a place where families, educators, caregivers, homeschoolers, preschool teachers, daycare providers, expecting parents, and anyone passionate about children can find encouragement, educational tools, coaching, strategies, resources, ideas, and support.
