Commercial Utilities stands ten toes down when it comes to safety, and that starts with steel-toed boots. Every year, employees receive a credit toward a new pair of work boots of their choice. To make sure everyone can take advantage of the program, regardless of location, we bring a mobile shoe store directly to our job sites.
We want every crew member to have the equipment they need to do excellent work and the PPE required to stay safe, comfortable, and confident in the field.

We start every shift at Commercial Utilities with a quick stretch and flex to warm up! Stretching is proven to reduce muscle strain and prevent injury before the work begins. Just another way we make sure to !

Commercial Interiors recently joined APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) at Coppin State University to help teach financial literacy to students!
During the event, students were given a realistic monthly "budget" and navigated different stations, each representing an expense such as housing, lifestyle, and transportation, to learn how to responsibly manage their finances.
It was a fantastic experience helping students learn essential life skills in a fun, hands-on environment.
Thank you to APGFCU for inviting us to partner with you and to Coppin State University for hosting the event!

Commercial Utilities officially broke ground on the "Urgent Needs Water Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Improvements Phase III" project for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW). This is a new milestone for us as this is our VERY FIRST valve replacement!
The original valve was completely inoperable due to aging infrastructure. Replacing it ensures Baltimore City DPW has the ability to quickly control water flow, being able to turn it on or off as needed during water main breaks and emergency repairs to mitigate disruptions to local business and residents.

Townes at the Terraces is moving into Phase 2.
This is the first project where the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) is the primary developer, and we're proud to work directly with the city to address Baltimore's need for affordable housing.
Thank you to our partners, HABC, ACB Consulting Services, and Mikesell Associates Architecture and Planning, for joining us to celebrate our collective progress on this project.

Congratulations to Project Coordinator Charlene Hessler on her well-earned retirement! Charlene has been a key member of the team, supporting both the field and office. She is beloved for her commitment to integrity and dedication to the job and team. Charlene is also is the first member of Commercial Construction to retire from the company and we could not be more proud.
Thank you for your years of service, Charlene! We would not be where we are without you!

We found this guy hanging out on one of our job sites this week. It's an Eastern Ratsnake, sometimes called a black rat snake, and it's Maryland's largest native snake species. Adults typically run 3.5 to 6 feet long, with some stretching past 7 feet.
Despite the dramatic open-mouth display, Eastern Ratsnakes are non-venomous and completely harmless to people.
These snakes are actually great to have around a site. Expert climbers, and they keep the rodent population in check. We let him finish his business and move along the way.
We had an unexpected visitor! A black bear snuck its way into a project site. The safety guys rallied and came up with a great plan: stay away from the bear.
