July FULL MOON Paddle! Mr. Bryan took a group of paddlers out to experience a night on Back Creek.
It was a cloudy night that obstructed our initial moonrise view, but we had some great close encounters with our feathered friends. We saw at very close range a black crowned night heron sitting on a piling, and up on top of a mast an osprey drying its wings after some "free diving" for fish for dinner!
We had a great time discussing not only moon mythology but also some interesting science related to our Chesapeake Bay. Although the moonrise was cloudy from the water we did see the moon once we got back to shore.
Thank you Kevin and the Capital SUP staff!

Mr. Bryan returned to Back Creek in Eastport for the June Full Moon Paddle with Capital SUP in Annapolis.
We had nice weather and a good turnout even though we had to postpone one day due to clouds and rain the evening before. The paddlers learned a lot about the local environment and birds including a close encounter with a great blue heron fishing! We hope to you all at the end of July for our next FMP with Capital SUP on Tuesday, July 28 in the heart of Eastport!

The Baden Library Branch of Prince George's County invited us to be part of its summer programming lineup. This was a new location for us to present at and it was AMAZING!
What a cool and creative library filled with eager and excited children and parents! Ms. Jen presented "Curious Crabs" to 61 very curious kiddos and adults. They all loved learning all about Blue Crabs and especially seeing and touching live ones.
This program was especially relevant to the season, given the recent 4th of July holiday. Many families shared that they love catching crabs and look forward to summer crab cookouts with family and friends. Thank you, Ms. Dickerson and PGCL staff for having us!

We finished the 2025โ2026 school year at Broadneck Elementary School. All four classes of 2nd graders enjoyed learning about Maryland critters and their unique and amazing adaptations.
Ms. Jen & Ms. Cathy had a wonderful time with these very curious and engaged students! It was so fun to hear the classes share their experiences on the local waterways and connect those experiences to what they were learning.
Thank you, Ms. Cockroft & the 2nd Grade Team for a great day!

It's so fun for our team to visit new schools! Back in April while hiking at Patapsco, CSH2O's Secretary/Treasurer, Sandy & volunteer extraordinaire, Karen, ran into Aundel MS 6th grade teacher Ms. Thomas-Barton during their field trip. That led to Ms. Jen, Mr. Bryan & Ms. Karen visiting Ms. Thomas-Barton's four 6th grade classes in May.
The 6th graders were so engaged in our "Who Polluted the Chesapeake? & Oyster 101" program. We're so glad that we could visit this "new-to-us" school before wrapping up the '25-'26 school year! Thank you, Ms. Thomas-Barton for having us!
