🚀 Adding Barba.js to a Custom WordPress Theme
I’ve rebuilt WordPress base theme and and integrated Barba.js for smooth, app-like page transitions.
Barba is easy on static HTML sites. WordPress? Not so much 😅
The challenge is getting Barba to play nicely with WordPress’s dynamic templates, plugins, and script loading—without breaking transitions or double-initializing JS.
In this post I walk through:
• How WordPress templates actually map to Barba’s wrapper vs container model
• Where Barba belongs in header.php, index.php, page.php, etc.
• Enqueuing Barba + GSAP the “WordPress way” (no package manager rage)
• Using namespaces to control transitions cleanly
• A simple GSAP transition demo (ketchup & mustard vibes 🌭)
• Real-world issues: plugin re-initialization, script lifecycle problems, and why things like Contact Form 7 silently break if you’re not careful
This setup powers page-to-page transitions on humnlab.com, including homepage → project animations, and it’s now my go-to foundation for high-end client builds.
If you’re building custom WordPress themes and want SPA-style transitions without ditching WordPress, this one’s for you.

Responsive design means your site actually works on phones, tablets, and desktops—not just one of them.
It's not three different websites. It's the same content, same elements, just arranged differently based on screen size. Mobile gets a single column. Desktop spreads things out. Tablet falls somewhere in between.
If someone pulls up your portfolio on their phone and has to pinch and zoom to read anything, you've already lost them. This is basic stuff in 2025, but you'd be surprised how many architecture sites still don't get it right.
Your work deserves better than that.
found a button that I'd like on walrus.xyz. Production value is a , bare with me.
cheers to the greenest site on the internet! https://buff.ly/2QYcdVz
This site runs 100% on solar and goes offline during long stretches of cloudy days. And it looks pretty good too.
I'm a big fan of well executed sites, albeit not groundbreaking, but sometimes a site like Ultranoir's AI gallery pops up and it makes you feel like making the most jam packed websites
