Sun Mom had four kittens-they have a foster for 10 more days
Then I need to move them. I am currently out of town taking care of two hospitalized, parents, and I don’t know when I’ll be back. Without a foster placement they’re gonna go to the animal care center. If anyone can Foster or another rescue can pick them up, I would prefer not to send them to the shelter. Unfortunately circumstances are what they are and this is gonna be the best that I can do at this point. No idea when Im able to return.
They will
be four weeks old on 27th.
This was the agreement with original foster.
I am in another state and may or may not be back in NY.

ORANGE COUNTY ANIMAL EMERGENCY- dog has til Sunday 20th
While at the hospital, I met some people visiting an older man who had fallen and fractured his neck. He has an older dog, no family, and the dog was surrendered to Orange County animal services. The dog is older, the dog is blind. The dog has lost his person and is now in an animal shelter and has probably until Sunday to live. If anyone has Rescue resources in the Orange County area or Connections, please reach out about this. Maybe we can make one little thing better for someone who’s totally alone in the world. The man and the dog were all each other had.

I’m in Florida with my own family medical emergencies. At the hospital, I overheard some people talking about not knowing what to do with this dog. That the dog only has until Sunday. All I know is that the human fell and fractured his neck. The parent is unlikely to return home and is devastated that his dog is going to be euthanized in a shelter on Sunday.

If anyone has Orange County rescue Connections, Central FLa, text me or please share, and I will put in contact with the people who took this dog to the shelter.
Imagine what is needed as a foster. Preferably a foster who might take the dog to visit the person. 😢

The video explains the situation: For years, the cats have had a small hole in the fence where they can go from a private mta property under a fence to be fed in public area by regular colony caretaker. It is why they are still alive.
They do not have regular feeders on the MTA side of the fence. The workers are there only temporarily, no one has a regular schedule to keep food for the cats, and we have suspicion that someone is wanting to starve the cats out. There are inly about four left in this side as we have TNR’d and rescued many kittens from the area.

We are trying to reach the proper city officials to get them to agree to open up the very small hole so that the cats can have access to regular nutrition and water. It’s animal cruelty to deny them this. This is the only way they can have consistent care and feeders.

We need help to contact right people to make this happen. This is a labyrinth of MTA bureaucracy to even find the right person.

It is impossible for us to maintain a regular feeding schedule due to the location and the difficulty of bringing food to the area without a vehicle. The Cats here have had shelter, Shelters, and colony caretakers on the other side of the fence. We need their kitty door opened again!
There is zero chance that a person could get through the size hole that the cats need to be able to get to the Food. The only reason to close it was to cut the cats off from access to Food.

I JUMPED for JOY! This morning we got a text from our friend at the metro location that Miriam had given birth again and there are five kittens. We have been through this cycle with Miriam at least six times since 2024.

I have to do a retrospective of all of her kittens that have been adopted out… She has made beautiful kittens. and now, in a surprise, turn of events… her mama time will end.

She must’ve been so hungry to go into the Trap… And maybe she’s finally just tired.

We are so happy that this Mama will not have to go through another winter of pregnancies.

We have so many bills. Please consider making donations so that we can help Miriam and other cats like her. There are a couple that need medical care, but without funds, we can’t do anything to help them..

This time ADVOCACY worked!! First, Marisol Barrera , a long time East Harlem rescuer reached out for help about cats being killed in the Bronx. We made a phone call through ASPCA rescuer medical
Line and asked for help. They said there was nothing they could do…call 311…
HOWEVER- that person I spoke to on phone must have gone extra because I received a call and email again from ASPCA acknowledging the complaint but again the usual blow off to : “ Who DO we call for help. WHO WILL TAKE ACTION?”

Our rescuer went to the site to talk to tenant, super and NYPD- but nothing could be done at the time.

We learned Friday a.m. that the tenant/squatter had been arrested and the apt was vacant.

So our rescuer went on her own to the horrific site to take photos and figure out how to get help. The animals were obviously sick, and in need of services beyond what small local rescue could provide. It needed to be done properly as animal abuse is a felony charge.

Once we sent these horrifying images to ASPCA and connected property managers with the team, I am grateful to say the ASPCA team went today and secured SEVEN cats that will get vetted and go to their adoption center. The dead kitty will get a necropsy though that info will be private pending investigation.

ASPCA will return later in the week to secure remaining cats amd are working with the super to feed and get space cleaned up for easier rescue. Trapping scared cats in hoarding space is not easy.
The “food” on floor was TV dinners-not cat food.

There is a LOT we don’t know. Was the tenant poisoning them?
The other five bodies were found outside- the animals went in and out through window, so there’s no way to know if they got sick outside and came in to die… Or the reverse.

This is a sad case and a SUCCESS that ASPCA did step up to help this time. Even when they too are over capacity like the rest of us.

Grateful for teamwork and that some action is being taken.
