I took a back seat in training today and I’m grateful to have two great assistants today. I do this to show people and the dogs that I’m training that they have to follow the commands regardless who’s at the other end of the line. Great job by all!!

Cooper did not understand the assignment. Did he think he was supposed to CLOSE his eyes on three? Or did he decide to just have a zen moment?

I have two types of walks that I do with dogs. One is a “heel” where the dog’s head stays at my left hip and the second is a “free walk”, which is what I’m doing in this video. The dog has the freedom to go wherever they want, as long as they’re not pulling when they get to the end of the lead. To communicate with the dog I will give a “with me” when changing directions. I can go to a “heel” position for any reason.

The Three Amigos had some off-leash training together this morning. This was the first time Fin met Sarge and Cooper. All three are intact males. Recalls were spot on along with all other commands. All three had E-Collars on.

The first 30 seconds of this video has me so frustrated. There’s trainers out there just making stuff up and then their clients believe the nonsense. I did an exercise with Sarge to show what you get when there’s a clear understanding of what you’re asking the dog to do and the results you can expect. First, it’s not normal for the dog to get up just because you walked behind him. Secondly, I should be able to release the dog from anywhere I want. Battlefield Cane Corso

Cooper, a 7 month old, male, German Shorthaired Pointer, just wrapped up his 1:1 sessions last week and today he starts his 2-week Board and Train Program to work on off-leash obedience and introduction to E-Collar training. After a proper introduction Sarge (Lab) and Cooper went for a walk together while both kept their composure. This is the first time they’ve met each other.

This is Ahiru, a female, Golden Retriever. When people ask me if my dog is too young to start training, my answer is ALWAYS NO. Sooner the better, our expectations will be lower and we will start with basic training. Ahiru is only 15 weeks old and this is her 4th training session. I wish people would be proactive with getting their dogs trained, like this owner. They’re both doing fantastic.

I was informed that Sarge has a habit of getting into the shoes so we’re working on teaching him that shoes aren’t toys and that he shouldn’t show any attention to them.

Sarge is getting a solid understanding of the “down” command. Notice my feet never stop moving when I give the command and he drops into the down position.
