Small dots. Handy helpers. 🟠
Finding the right button on a microwave or washing machine can be easier with a little something you can feel.
Bump dots are raised, adhesive markers that help people who are blind or have low vision identify buttons, settings, and other everyday items by touch.
They’re just one of the practical tools available in our Necessities Store at Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania. Our team can help you explore options that fit your daily routine.
What’s one everyday item you’d find helpful to mark?

Please join us in celebrating our 2025–2026 Volunteers of the Year, Diane Boyd and Johnathan!
Diane’s dedication to our MOVEMENT group and events, and Johnathan’s service as a board member through fundraising and committee work, make a lasting difference for Vision Resources and those we serve.
We were delighted to present Diane with her award! Johnathan is away on business, and we look forward to celebrating him when he returns.

As National Guide Dog Month comes to a close, here’s a quick distinction: a guide dog is a service dog trained to help a person who is blind or has low vision navigate. Other service dogs may be trained for different disability-related tasks.
When you meet a working dog, give the team room. Please don’t pet, call to, or feed the dog, and keep your own dog at a respectful distance. If you’d like to help, speak to the handler and ask first.
Thank you for helping guide dog teams travel safely and confidently! 🐾

A Screening That Made a Difference 👓
This week, our Director of Services, Treassa Strawn, was at Bartos Child & Family Center providing free vision screenings when she had a special full-circle moment.
She screened a 4-year-old boy wearing glasses and recognized him from last year.
At age 3, his screening identified astigmatism and resulted in a referral. His family followed up with an eye doctor, and one year later, he returned wearing the glasses he needed.
This is why vision screenings matter. A few minutes can help identify a vision problem early and make a lasting difference.
This week, we got to see that difference firsthand. 💜
Our volunteers truly are our Guiding Lights. 💜
We recently gathered for our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon to celebrate some of the incredible people who give their time, talents, and hearts to Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania. We are so grateful for everything our volunteers do to support our organization and the people we serve.
Thank you for helping us light the way.
And for a little bonus fun… can you spot our CFO Andrea making a cameo in the background? 👀😂

We were so grateful to welcome volunteers from Highmark for United Way of the Capital Region’s Day of Caring on Friday! 💜
Our volunteers spent the day helping us tackle a big project: sorting, cataloging and photographing donated artwork for Vision Resources. Their time and teamwork helped us accomplish in one day what would have taken our staff much longer to complete.
Thank you for showing up, pitching in and making a difference in our community. This is what Day of Caring is all about!

Paul Zavinsky, our Director of Development and Public Relations, represented Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania and had the opportunity to connect with Senator Keefer while sharing information about the services and resources available to people who are blind or visually impaired.

Happy National Guide Dog Month! 🐾💜
We’re celebrating the incredible guide dogs and furry friends who make life a little easier, safer, and brighter. Have a hardworking helper in your life? Share a photo in the comments so we can celebrate them, too! 🐕🦺
And stick with us all month! We’ll be sharing helpful information about guide dogs, how they differ from other service dogs, guide dog etiquette, and what you should (and shouldn’t!) do when you meet a working dog.
A little awareness can go a long way in supporting safe, independent travel!
