DJ ROC-Ness

For DJ ROC-Ness, music is far more than a playlist—it is "soul food" that nourishes the spirit and reaches the deepest corners of memory. Since he first touched the decks at age 14, he has been fueled by an unadulterated love for the groove. While his expertise spans the sonic spectrum—from Salsa, House, and EDM to Drum N Bass—he has earned his reputation as a premier guardian of Urban Classics. The Architect of the Old School
Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, ROC-Ness served as a cornerstone of the nightlife scene in Kaiserslautern, Germany. His devotion to the sounds of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s—spanning Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Reggae—transformed local dancefloors into masterclasses of musical history. The "Oldschool Allnighter": His monthly residency at Taco Kidd became a local institution. Every first Saturday, he united a melting pot of locals, students, and U.S. military personnel, channeling the legendary energy of classic NCO Club parties. The Analog Purist: In an era of automation, ROC-Ness remains a dedicated "old school" technician. Since 1994 at Art's Jazz & Soul, he has honed a style built on true skill. He performs exclusively on Technics 1210 turntables with a Serato mixer, maintaining the tactile soul of vinyl culture. His ability to control a crowd "like puppets at the scratch of a needle" is a testament to over three decades of technical mastery. Global Stages & Legendary Lineups
His authenticity made him the preferred choice for industry heavyweights. ROC-Ness has set the stage and opened for a "who’s who" of global music royalty, including:
Hip-Hop Pioneers: De La Soul, Mobb Deep, Naughty By Nature, Redman & Methodman, Jeru the Damaja, and AFU-RA. R&B & Dancehall Icons: Jodeci, Adina Howard, Devin the Dude, and Serani. German Giants: AFROB, Ollie Banjo, Jonesmann, and Dungeon Mastaz. A New Chapter in Central PA
After bridging the gap between American military culture and the German urban scene, ROC-Ness brought his world-class experience to Central Pennsylvania. His impact was immediate, notably serving as the opening and show DJ for Serani at Tellus360 in 2022. Though he concluded his original German residency in 2016, his legacy lives on through the "Old School Jam / Soul Jam" events he inspired. Today, whether in Europe or the States, DJ ROC-Ness continues to prove that authentic music has no borders, using his turntables to connect generations and cultures through shared rhythm and respect.
