WE'RE BACK! (mostly)
We've had some questions about what happened 👇
Wednesday afternoon we lost one leg of our three-phase power. It was weird! Some lights, outlets, and refrigeration were off; some were on. We briefly lost the ability to process credit cards, until we found a working outlet in the office and moved the router and server there.
PPL estimated a few hours to fix it, so we emptied the open-front coolers (fastest to lose temp) of anything at risk and kept doors sealed on the rest -- including the walk-in, which meant no sales from it for a few hours, to protect both display items and backstock. We considered moving everything to an off-site walk-in (kindly offered by another local business 🙏) but decided it didn't make sense given PPL's timeline.
And indeed -- when PPL finished around 8pm, we temped everything and it checked out within safe range. We saved it all! 🎉
But then... Thursday at 4am a baker found the walk-in at 57°. Turns out PPL's fix used an incorrectly configured transformer -- everything looked (and initially acted) powered, but our three-phase equipment, including the walk-in, wasn't getting *enough* power. Milk, meat, and more were already out of food-safety range. PPL replaced the transformer around 11:30am Thursday, fully restoring power.
Unfortunately, because everything but the walk-in worked normally, we didn't get our usual alerts, and we lost a lot of product overnight. 😞 If you came in Thursday or early Friday, you saw a mostly-empty cooler.
Good news: deliveries are rolling in -- fresh milk, chicken, beef and more are back on shelves. Produce is abundant and bread (disrupted when our three-phase oven went down) is back on track. A few stragglers (cottage cheese) won't arrive until next week, but overall we're in good shape.
We do have insurance to cover most of the spoilage loss, but not the revenue we lost by not selling Wednesday and Thursday. We'd 💛 love your help making up for it this weekend!
Thank you for bearing with us -- and especially, if you came by and weren't able to get what you needed, we appreciate your patience more than you know. 🙏

Updated update: Power is fully on and we are open! Oven is still preheating, so bread will not be out until later this afternoon. We got fresh deliveries of eggs and some yogurt this morning; milk and additional fridge stuff will be in mid-day tomorrow, though it'll take a few days to fully replenish.
UPDATE: PPL will be cutting our power for perhaps an hour. We hope to be back on by noon, but will be closed in the meantime and will update here when we're re-opening!
Ongoing power issue: NO MILK TODAY, bread delayed... other weirdness expected.
Folks -- it's kind of a long story, but a small section of our neighborhood is experiencing a partial power outage affecting three-phase equipment. We believed PPL restored full power yesterday evening, and that the outage was brief enough that we experienced no product loss.
Unfortunately when our bakers arrived early this morning, they discovered that although the walk-in fridge had power, it wasn't operating at full capacity and wasn't able to keep up overnight. Similarly, our bread oven indicates that it has some power, but not enough to bake the bread.
PPL expects the power will be back to normal around 11:30 -- when they restore full power, we'll bake today's bread (though it'll probably be extra sour due to the longer and warmer proof). Unfortunately, much of what was in the walk-in, including all the milk, fresh meat, and much of the cheese and yogurt is no longer saleable per health code.
We will be open as usual, but won't get most replacements until tomorrow. While PPL is actively working on the fix, approximately half our cases will be without power completely and we'll ask folks to not open them in order to keep them as cold as possible while we're waiting for full restoration.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
