Last week, the CIL team came together at Max Fish in Glastonbury, Connecticut, to celebrate our Vice President / Chief Information Officer Eric Plummer. Eric has been with CIL for 25 years, ensuring a safe and stable IT infrastructure for our organization. He's a person our team can count on, not just because of his technical expertise, but because of the way he approaches every challenge—with patience and humility. He's the kind of leader who turns mistakes into learning opportunities and never stops learning himself.

The celebration also included a few words from Maria Green, who reflected on what it has meant to work alongside Eric for more than two decades. Their longstanding partnership is a reminder that one of CIL's greatest strengths is the team we've built together over the years.

Creating spaces that strengthen the ideas of community, independence, and accessibility is at the heart of what we do. Completed in 2022 in partnership with Incompass Human Services, this new construction project was designed to support individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), with thoughtful features that help residents live as independently as possible. From extra-wide hallways and integrated ceiling lifts to accessible kitchen spaces with roll-under work surfaces, every detail was designed with the people who would one day call these their homes.

In late 2025, members of the CIL team had the opportunity to return for a walkthrough. Take a look at a few photos from our visit and see how thoughtful design can help created a place where residents can live, connect, and thrive.

"No Mission, No Margin; No Margin, No Mission" is a phrase Jim Settembrino has heard throughout his career as a provider, and one that continues to shape how organizations approach sustainable growth.

From one side of the country to the other, CIL will be on the road this July! We're excited to attend The Arc of the United States National Summer Leadership Institute in Palm Springs, CA, and TPACON 2026, hosted by The Provider Alliance, in Cranberry Township, PA. These events bring together leaders, advocates, and providers who are committed to strengthening services and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

It's never easy to say goodbye to someone who has made such a lasting impact. After nearly a decade of dedicated service, we're celebrating Patrick Pinnell as he concludes his tenure on the CIL Board of Directors.

Since joining the Board in 2016, Patrick has generously shared his expertise as an architect, planner, and problem solver, helping guide CIL's mission with thoughtful leadership and a genuine passion for strengthening communities. His experience and collaborative spirit have been invaluable to our organization.

While Patrick's time on the Board is coming to a close, we're grateful for the insight and enthusiasm he's shared over the years. Thank you, Patrick, for your years of service and for everything you've done to support CIL!

CIL was pleased to collaborate with New Life II on the development of The Gloria House, helping bring this important resource to the New Britain community.

New Life II is Connecticut’s first black-owned, faith-based, peer-led recovery community organization. They offer non-clinical, peer-to-peer support for individuals affected by addiction, incarceration, trauma, and other significant life events, meeting individuals wherever they are in their recovery journey with enthusiasm, understanding, and without judgment. At The Gloria House, guests are provided a space to navigate emotional distress, one-on-one peer support, and access to many other tools and resources to promote wellness, connection, and self-determination.
