Big thank you to Connecticut Children's Medical Center's Pediatric Residency Program for visiting Capitol Squash this summer and leading engaging presentations on the heart, lungs, and digestive system!!! 🫀🫁

We are grateful to Dr. Leah Pinsky, Dr. Shervin Rezaei, and Dr. Christian Sadaka for sharing their knowledge and inspiring our students to learn more about their health and the human body.

This summer, thanks to the support of the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation, Capitol Squash once again brought the Dream Big Marathon program to our students!

Throughout the summer, students built positive habits around reading, physical activity, kindness, and perseverance. Inspired by Dave McGillivray’s incredible journey, they learned that challenges can be overcome with determination, hard work, and belief in themselves.

Over four weeks, each student read a book matched to their Lexile level from the Hartford Public Schools’ Summer Reading List, completed fitness challenges, and participated in a kindness challenge. Together, they completed an incredible 140 acts of kindness!

The highlight of the summer was crossing the finish line as a team after completing a full marathon. 26.2 miles! Watching our students encourage one another and celebrate every milestone made this an unforgettable experience.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation for making this program possible and for continuing to inspire our students to dream big, stay active, and finish strong!

Last week, Capitol Squash went on a tour of the Kingswood Oxford School campus. Our summer campers visited the auditorium, library, and classroom spaces while learning all about the school. Thank you so much for providing this awesome opportunity, Kingswood Oxford School!

Capitol Squash took a field trip to the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art last week. Our campers saw so many pieces of incredible artwork and learned so much from our amazing tour guides. We can’t wait to visit again!

Thank you so much to Camp KO for hosting Capitol Squash this week! Our campers had so much fun meeting other squash players, challenging themselves in fitness competitions, and playing lots and lots of squash! Thanks again, Camp KO West Hartford!

Angel, Capitol Squash alum and Trinity sophomore, gave our summer campers a tour of campus yesterday. He showed them the library, dining hall, dorms, and coffee shop while leading the students in a scavenger hunt to find landmarks around campus. Thanks, Angel, for being a fantastic tour guide!

Last Friday, Capitol Squash student Abdiel graduated from A.I. Prince Technical High School. Throughout high school, Abdiel studied the plumbing trade with the goal of beginning his career as a plumber apprentice. For his next step, he plans to join United Association Plumber & Pipefitters Local 777.

Abdiel joined Capitol Squash at just 9 years old, and it has been incredible to watch him grow into the kind, hardworking, and dependable young man he is today. He is always willing to help out and support those around him both on and off the court. We are so proud of Abdiel and honored to have been part of his journey!
