Today, we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States and honoring the resilience, contributions, and achievements of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history.

Representing the date June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the freedom of enslaved people.. over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. The day has since become a celebration of freedom, history, culture and progress.

In observance of Juneteenth, Steel Valley Accelerator offices will be closed today.

We wish everyone a meaningful Juneteenth.
