This month, we're thinking of everyone in our Hawaii ohana touched by breast cancer.
The ones going through it, the ones who've come out the other side, and the families walking beside them.
It's a good reminder that none of us face these things alone.
Staying on top of your health is one of the kindest things you can do, for yourself and for the people who love you.
And when you're ready, UHA is here to help you take that step, with coverage and a local team that treats you like a person, not a number.
To everyone carrying this, and everyone caring for someone who is: we're with you.

At UHA Health Insurance, we believe better health means a better life for our entire community. Last Friday, September 18th, our team was honored to take part in two inspiring community events dedicated to protecting our keiki and mothers across Hawaiʻi. 🌺💚
We were proud to support:
🎙️ The Kapiʻolani Radiothon for Kids (Children's Miracle Network)
Funds raised directly support Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children, ensuring Hawaiʻi’s local keiki receive state-of-the-art care and medical support right here at home.

🍽️ The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Gala
A wonderful evening pairing local culinary talent with a critical mission: advancing research, education, and advocacy to support maternal health and lower premature birth rates.

While the Kapiʻolani Radiothon targets immediate, specialized hospital care for local children in Hawaiʻi, March of Dimes leads broad-scale prevention, advocacy, and research for healthy pregnancies and births. Both missions are vital to nurturing a thriving, healthy future for our islands.
Mahalo to the event organizers, sponsors, healthcare partners, and donors for your dedication to our community’s well-being!

Rooted right here.
There's a difference between a company that operates in Hawaii and one that's truly from here.
UHA has been part of these islands since 1996, built by local physicians for the people of Hawaii.
Being local means the people making decisions about your care live where you live. They know the community because they're in it, at the same markets and the same school pickups.
Healthcare is personal. It's a lot more personal when it comes from your own community.

The habits that stick are the ones we share.
Kids learn health the same way they learn everything else, by watching the grown-ups around them.
When wellness is just part of family life, it stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like a normal part of life.
It doesn't take much. A walk together after dinner. Cooking at home instead of ordering in. Little things, repeated, that the whole family can do side by side.
In Hawaii, a lot of that comes easy. The beach, the trails, the weekends that already fill up with family. Healthy choices and quality ohana time fit together so easily.
What is one healthy habit your family does together?

Some of the most serious health risks give no warning.
High cholesterol, high blood pressure, and early diabetes can all sit quietly for years while a person feels perfectly fine.
That's the case for regular checkups, even when nothing feels wrong.
A short visit and a simple blood test can catch the things that don't announce themselves, back when they're easiest to manage.
UHA was founded by physicians, so this way of thinking is built into the plan.
Prevention first, because the care that keeps you well is worth more than the care you will need to fix a problem later.
Talk to your doctor about which screenings make sense for you. It's one of the simplest things you can do for the people counting on you.
When was your last checkup?

Our 2026 Intern Class brought fresh perspectives, new ideas, curiosity, confidence, and great energy to UHA. Their willingness to ask questions, take on new challenges, and connect with our teams reminded us how much we can learn from the next generation of professionals.
As we wrap up an amazing summer, we want to say a big MAHALO to our interns for everything they contributed during their time with us. We’re grateful to have been part of your journey and can’t wait to see where your next chapter takes you!
Congratulations to the UHA Intern Class of 2026 on an incredible summer! 🎓✨
E ulu, e kū, e ola.
Grow, stand firm, thrive.

September in Hawaii means the end of summer and back-to-school along with the start of more community events and festivals.
Block parties, parades, long afternoons in the sun with the people we love. It's the best time of year to be out and about together.
A few small things keep those days good ones:
- Water before the sun gets high, not after you already feel it.
- Shade breaks for the keiki and the kupuna, who feel the heat faster than the rest of us.
- A floppy pāpale, trucker hat, or whatever matches what you are doing and wearing for the day and some sunscreen
- A plan for where to meet if the family gets split up in a crowd.
It's just the kind of looking-out-for-each-other that makes Hawaii feel like Hawaii.
However you spend these next few weeks, we hope they're full of good food, good company, and the people who make this place home.

What does it take to build a career, and a future—that is truly yours?
Our UHA Health Insurance team had the honor of spending time with the incredible students at Waipahu High School’s Academy of Arts & Communication Conference Program!
At UHA, caring for our island home means investing directly in the next generation. We sat down with students to share our real-world career journeys. From the lessons learned, the setbacks that built resilience, and the power of finding your unique strengths. We talked about what it truly means to cultivate a personal brand: bringing your authentic story, confidence, and positive energy into every room you enter.
As part of our commitment to uplifting local youth and supporting healthcare pathways across the communities we serve, we are constantly inspired by the talent, heart, and potential of our young leaders.
Mahalo nui loa to the students, faculty, and staff at Waipahu High School for welcoming us so warmly. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to support your journey as you step confidently into your future! 🤙

Our hurricane season runs through November 30th, and taking a few proactive steps now can bring peace of mind for you and your ʻohana.
Here are key health and insurance steps to check off your list today:
• Refresh your supply kit: Check expiration dates on food, water, and first-aid items.
• Refill prescription medications: Connect with your pharmacist early—power outages or shipping delays can happen after a storm. Remember, medically necessary exception refills can often be requested during emergencies.
• Organize your health details: Keep an updated list of your medications, doctors, emergency contacts, and your UHA member ID card.
• Plan for special care: Outline support plans for personal medical equipment, caregiving needs, and pets.
• Know your local shelters: Identify designated emergency shelter locations in your neighborhood.
• Protect important documents: Store insurance policies, IDs, and medical records in a safe, waterproof spot.
Taking time to prepare today helps keep your ʻohana safe and reduces stress if a storm approaches.
