We need community right now. 🤎 $426.37/$2,636.29
The reality is that this economy is hitting Alabama families hard. Rising bills, unstable housing, food costs, transportation issues, and the lack of accessible support systems are pushing so many mothers beyond their limits. Right now, we have 5 mamas facing 5 different situations, and together they need $2,636.29 to stabilize immediate needs and simply breathe again. These are not luxuries. These are survival needs. And the hardest part is knowing how many women are doing everything they can and still falling behind.
At Margins, we believe care should not come with shame. We believe community should step in where systems continue to fail. We are asking our village to help us make these mamas whole. Whether you give $5, $50, or simply share this post, you are helping us build real infrastructure of care in real time. Let’s remind these mothers that they are not carrying this alone. 🦋

🚨 Urgent Action Needed 🚨
Alabama lawmakers are considering SB293, a dangerous bill that could criminalize standing within 25 feet of a first responder if they claim you’re “interfering with government operation.” This vague language could be used to silence protesters, push back observers, and stop people from documenting police activity.
Public recordings have been critical for accountability in cases like the killing of George Floyd. We cannot allow our right to witness and speak out to be taken away.
📧 Email the Senate Judiciary Committee NOW and tell them to oppose SB293. Our right to protest, observe, and hold power accountable is on the line. ✊🏾📢

“One thing I can tell you about some of these programs that exist: They are not providing the services they say they are providing.”
from .bham spoke on behalf of houseless neighbors of Birmingham at today’s city council meeting. This comes a week after one houseless neighbor had their possessions thrown away and forced to evacuate Linn Park. Many organizations are committed to supporting the unhoused in this city, but it is up to the city itself to reinforce these efforts.
