One of the biggest lessons I learned early in my career wasn’t clinical.

It was leadership.

Medical school and surgical training teach us how to treat patients.

Almost none of us are taught how to lead a team.

If you don’t set clear expectations early, your team will set them for you.

Leadership isn’t about control.

It’s about building a culture of respect, accountability, and professionalism.

In our practice, everyone calls me Dr. Cyr. Not Steve.

Even the people who have been with me the longest.

That title isn’t ego.

It’s a boundary—and it protects the culture we’ve built.

An exceptional surgeon needs more than technical skill.

Compassion. Emotional intelligence. The ability to listen. Clear communication.
