I am an artist living and working in Houston Texas. I paint figurative and narrative subjects.

Shorebirds and ducks share calm coastal waters, illuminated by warm early morning light. The way their groupings and reflections settle into the scene feels quietly organized, a small pause of calm I like to return to. Two Brown Pelicans glide in perfect formation against an open coastal sky. The panoramic composition and clear light emphasize their parallel lines and a quiet, steady motion that feels calm and deliberate. I appreciate the simple balance between movement and space. Sharing a piece that shows two brown pelicans gliding through coastal skies in layered formation. The open space and muted tones give a calm, deliberate sense of motion, with a quiet diagonal that guides the eye across the scene. I'm sharing "Caged Bird," a piece that puts an alert bird against cool, measured bars. The head presses at the grid, the eye glossy and focused and the beak slightly parted in a quiet way. The bare neck reads as a tangle of mottled reds and pinks with a tactile, lived-in quality, while the body and background fall into softer, muted squares that suggest a barn or market stall without spelling it out. Light grazes the beak and eye and leaves other areas in shadow, giving the image a mix of vulnerability and stubborn presence. It tends to prompt a second look in a living room, study, or entryway. I wanted to share Bugsy, a portly bulldog reclining on a lime-green sofa. His puckered, skeptical expression and the streak of pink on his muzzle give him a gruff but oddly tender personality, and the dark background makes the sofa’s color read even brighter. He feels quietly confident and a little funny, the kind of piece that brings character to a living room or entryway. A golden lion with unnervingly human eyes holds the center of this work, its mane dissolving into planes of ochre and amber. Blue irises fix on an unseen point, equal parts curiosity and sorrow, and a smaller pale creature, part bear and part child, leans in with a tentative, intimate feel. Two larger, ghostlike figures rise behind them in cool blues against a deep red ground, their uplifted arms reading like ritual or rehearsal and quietly unsettling the scene. I aimed for a balance between the warm center and the cooler background so the image keeps giving, the longer you look. A late-night scene: a man collapsed over a round table, his head cradled by the dark surface while a single ch*****ne flute stands upright at his fingertips. Nearby, a woman in a luminous green dress steadies herself with one hand on the chair back and a small cup in the other, and blurred figures recede into the dim background.

I wanted to keep the focus on that quiet tension between public gaiety and private surrender, where the saturated red floor pushes forward against deep indigo and warm browns and the green dress cuts through the scene. Small details matter to me here—the poised flute, the woman’s steady hand, the crowd that keeps moving on.
