Okay. Big words confuse. So we go simple. Real simple. Like explain-to-caveman simple.
First thing, most important thing: air intake.
Fan on roof only work if air can come in first. Air come in from bottom of roof, little vents called soffit vents. No air come in, fan just spin and struggle. Fan pull air from wrong place, maybe even suck air from inside house instead of outside. Waste of fan.
So before talk fan, must check: house got enough air coming in at bottom? If no, fix that first. Add intake. Then fan can do job right.
Now rest of story:
Attic sit on top of house. Sun beat down. Attic get hot, like 150 degrees hot. Heat sink into house below. AC work too hard. Bill go up. Roof shingle cook, die young.
Winter, different problem. House make wet air, shower, cooking, breathing. Wet air rise, get stuck in attic, turn to water on wood. Wood rot. Mold grow.
All year: trapped wet air bad. Rust nail. Rot wood. Kill insulation power.
Fix is simple: air come in bottom, air go out top, air keep moving.
But how many fan you need, or if fan needed at all, that depend on stuff. House size. Roof shape. How much insulation. Where house at, hot place or cold place.
