💛 Sometimes Helping a Child Goes Beyond the Classroom

This is our sweet Yoseph Bayew. ❤️ Many of you have followed his journey and know just how special he is to our ACC family.

Yoseph was born with spina bifida and faces several other health challenges. Recently, he needed surgery, and his family was facing significant medical expenses.

Thanks to the generosity of our ACC family, we were able to help cover a significant portion of the cost of his surgery.

And now we have some wonderful news…

🥰 Yoseph is healing remarkably well! 🙏🏽❤️

Moments like this remind us why All Children Count is about more than what happens inside a classroom.

Yes, we provide school supplies.
Yes, we support teachers.
Yes, we provide educational resources and opportunities.

But sometimes a child needs something else.

Sometimes a family needs someone to come alongside them during an unexpected crisis.

Sometimes helping a child means making sure they can get the medical care they desperately need.

And sometimes it simply means reminding a child and their family:

“We see you.
You matter.
You are not alone.”

This is the kind of community we want ACC to be.

A community that invests in children’s education and cares about their lives beyond the classroom.

Thank you to every person who gives, shares, prays, encourages, volunteers, or simply tells someone else about ACC.

Because of you, when a child needs help, we can sometimes say, “We’re here.” 💛

64 happy kids + water games + a good story + a hot lunch = a pretty great Saturday! ❤️

This past Saturday, we had a Children’s Day program for our All Children Count beneficiary children, led by the Baptist Mission of Ethiopia (BME) team from Addis Ababa.

The team shared the story of Jonah and the big fish, organized some really creative games, and gave the children plenty of time to play and have fun.

And let me tell you… the water games were a BIG hit! 💦😂

The children also enjoyed a nice hot lunch provided by the BME team.

But the best part? At the end of the day, the children gave us endless hugs. 🥰

If you want to know whether the children enjoyed themselves, I think the hugs answered that question!

We are so thankful to the BME team for spending their Saturday making these 64 children feel special, and for everyone who helps make moments like this possible through All Children Count.

🎒 They’re ready!

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been busy getting our All Children Count kids ready for the new school year—and we have SO much to celebrate!

Thanks to the success of our Fill the Seat campaign, we were able to provide:

🎒 Backpacks & school supplies for 100 children
👟 New shoes for 100 children (and let me tell you… the shoes were a BIG hit this year! 😂)
📚 School fees for 75 children
❤️ 14 new children added to our program

And because the need is always greater than what we initially plan for, we purchased extra notebooks and were able to share supplies with 10 additional children!

We also wanted to celebrate our students who worked hard academically. 🏆

Our honor roll students—those who earned all A’s and B’s—received a fidget spinner AND a book of their own.

And our students who earned all A’s received an additional 100 ETB ($0.67) as a reward for their hard work. That small amount is enough to purchase a hot lunch for two children. ❤️

This is what your support looks like in action.

A child walking into the new school year with a backpack on their back, new shoes on their feet, supplies in their hands, and the knowledge that people believe in them.

💙 Meet Child #100: Lenjiso Fanos!

We have a very special introduction to make today…

Meet Lenjiso Fanos—Child #100! 🎉💙

We first met Lenjiso last school year at one of our partner schools during a reading celebration. We only met him briefly, but this summer, we happened to see him outside a restaurant asking for leftover food.

We were concerned and immediately reached out to his school to learn more.

What we learned was that Lenjiso and his family are going through a very difficult season and could use some help.

So this year, we added Lenjiso to the All Children Count beneficiary list as our 100th child. ❤️

We took Lenjiso to the tailor to get measured for his new school uniform.

Just look at those smiles! 🥹

But we didn’t want to stop there.

Thanks to the support of our ACC community, we will also be providing Lenjiso and his family with a three-month food supply to help take some of the immediate pressure off while they work to get back on their feet.

This is what your support makes possible.

A uniform.

School supplies.

Food for a family.

And, perhaps most importantly, the reminder to a child that someone sees him, cares about him, and believes he deserves an opportunity.

It’s National Nonprofit Day! ❤️

Today, I’m celebrating the people who make the work of All Children Count possible.

Our supporters have helped us provide children with school fees, uniforms, and supplies. They’ve supported teacher training and English education. They’ve donated books and resources. They’ve shared our story. And some have even packed their bags and come to Ethiopia to see the work for themselves.

This year, we set out to provide 100 students with the essentials they need for school—and we reached that goal! 🎉

And we’re not stopping there.

Support beyond those first 100 students helps ACC expand participation in our other educational programs throughout the year.

Nonprofit work isn’t something one person can do alone. It takes people who are willing to give, serve, share, encourage, volunteer, and simply say:

“Count me in.”

📚 100 Children. One Big Step Toward a New School Year.

School starts soon—and thanks to the incredible support of the ACC community, 100 children will begin the new school year prepared, equipped, and confident. ❤️

Each ACC student will receive:

👕 A brand-new school uniform
👟 Shoes
🎒 A backpack
✏️ School supplies
🏫 School fee assistance
📖 Their very own English textbook

That textbook is especially meaningful. Our students will be able to use it not only in the classroom, but also at home—giving them an opportunity to continue learning long after the school day ends.

✂️ And this year, we started a new uniform tradition!

In previous years, our children traveled individually to the tailor to be measured for their uniforms.

This year, the tailor came to us!

One by one, each child was measured for a brand-new, custom-made school uniform.

But what started as a practical uniform-fitting day quickly became something much more special.

It became a joyful community gathering.

We reconnected with ACC families, caught up on life, shared warm hugs, laughed together, and celebrated the beginning of another school year.

Because at ACC, we believe education is about more than providing supplies or paying school fees.

It’s about showing children that their education matters—and reminding their families that they are not alone.

We are so grateful to everyone who makes moments like this possible.

📚 100 children. A new school year. A community behind them.

And once again, we are reminded that ACC is more than a program. We are a family. ❤️
