Around here, we’re pretty big fans of Dolly not just for the big hair, rhinestones, and absolute commitment to sparkle, but because she’s spent her life leading with kindness, generosity, and a whole lot of love for animals.

The world could use a little more Dolly energy: love big, give when you can, be kind to animals, and leave things a little better than you found them.

Some of our adoptable Destination Rescue pups decided the best way to honor her was to channel their inner Dolly Pawton. And frankly, they understood the assignment. 😂💎🐾

✨💕Dolly Adoption Update! ✨💕

We’ve been running around like crazy ladies over here, and we know we leave a lot to be desired when it comes to social media adoption updates.

Honestly, we’re pretty dang proud that we’ve managed to keep up with our monthly adoption posts this year! But we know you’re following along, and you want all the deets on your favorite pups and their happily ever afters. So, we’re going to try to share a little more over the next few months.

And today, we’re talking about Dolly!

Who remembers Dolly, the golden girlie that Stephanie and Amber picked up from BARC back in May? She was 5 years old when her owners dumped her at the shelter. 💔

Well… Dolly had a MILLION applications. Okay, maybe not literally a million, but it sure felt like it! There were SO many wonderful families interested in her that choosing who to contact was incredibly difficult.

We initially chose a family without another dog. At first, Dolly didn’t seem to care much one way or another about other dogs, and the family seemed like a wonderful fit. But after meeting her virtually, they ultimately decided to pass.

No biggie. We actually encourage adopters to pass if they aren't 110% sure.

But now we know why, because Dolly was meant to have a dog sibling. And not just any dog sibling… a big, floofy brother to nap with. Their favorite shared hobby.

In June, Dolly made the trip to New Jersey, where her forever family was waiting for her. And since then? She has settled in AMAZINGLY.

Dolly and her new brother, Archer, weren’t exactly sure about each other at first. But her new mom promised to give them time, and she did just that. Slow introductions. Leashed hangouts even in the house. Pack walk after pack walk.

And then, one day…BAM. They woke up and apparently decided, Ohhh you’re my sibling now.

We recently got this update:
“She is doing great!! She’s just as huggable as her foster promised. Her and Archer finally hitting it off greatly too!”

Dolly’s family had recently lost their previous dog, Luna, and there have been little signs along the way that make them feel like Luna somehow helped send Dolly their way. Like their shared disgust for the one food they both refuse to eat: green beans.😂

We couldn’t have written a better ending for this sweet girl.

Dolly found her people. She found her floofy brother. And she found exactly where she was meant to be. ❤️

Meet Liberty 💙

This sweet girl came into a kill shelter with her 6 puppies and was put on the euthanasia list. Somehow they received 6 extensions, and thankfully a foster stepped up before that last chance ran out. She raised all 6 of her babies and did her job well. They have all been adopted and they’re off living their best lives in MT, OH, PA, and NY. Now this mama needs someone to do the same for her.

Liberty is about 2 years old, 40 lbs, and a Cattle Dog mix (we think). She’s playful, loves walks and toys, gets the occasional zoomies, but she’s also perfectly happy to settle down and hang out with you. She's got that mama's heart and if she has a stuffie she will carry it around everywhere like it's one of her babies.🥹

She’s affectionate in her own gentle way, she’ll just slowly scoot herself closer and closer until she’s right next to you asking for scratches and belly rubs. She is a cattle dog after all and we absolutely love that about her. She will be the most loyal best friend for her forever person/family.

Liberty is dog friendly and has done well with dogs in her foster home. She can get a little excited seeing dogs on leash, but her foster is working with her and she’s VERY food motivated, which definitely helps.

More than anything she is just a really really good girl. After everything she’s been through, we want to see her get the home she deserves. Someone who will be committed to her, and also obsessed with her adorable little smile, like we are. No mama's left behind.

Yesterday, she was a forgotten mama sitting in a shelter facing euthanasia. Today, she’s free with a whole lifetime of beautiful days ahead of her and all the time in the world to stop and look at the sky.

Freedom pictures really don’t get much better than this. 🥹

🌸 Adopt Roo 🌸

We may be biased, but Roo is freakin’ cute!! We are honestly shocked she hasn’t had a million apps by now. She has the softest, gorgeous fluffy fur that is just begging to be cuddled, and she is every bit as sweet as she is cute.

Roo is one of those dogs who is simply really, really good. She’s sweet, affectionate, easygoing, loves people, loves attention, and has been wonderful with every dog she’s met. She’s the kind of dog you could take to brunch or the kids’ ballgames and she’d be a hit. And she’d love every second of it.

Personality wise, she is more of a submissive girlie. Cue the belly rubbies. She doesn’t need to be the boss of anyone, which makes her a really easy addition to a family with another pup already in the home. We think she would love having a friendly dog to hang out with, but she doesn’t necessarily need one. As long as she gets plenty of attention from her people, she’s happy.

She’s also impressively well mannered in the house. Roo uses the dog door to potty, sleeps on her dog bed, and can be left loose in the house without deciding that your belongings are now her belongings.

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Okay... so are you saying she’s perfect?”

Almost. 😅

Her one hard no is cats. If a cat comes into her yard, Roo will happily take on the job of escorting it right back out. So no kitties for this girl.

Roo would love a home where she can go places, explore, have some adventures, and then come home and curl up with her people. She knows sit, walks well on leash, and is so smart that we think further training with her will be a breeze.

Roo is estimated to be 1–2 years old and weighs a healthy 55 pounds. We think she may be an Anatolian Shepherd mix, but honestly, your guess is just as good as ours.
