Thank-yous come in all shapes and sizes. Today, our PTO's came in a casserole dish.

Tonight, Kolter teachers headed home with dinner already taken care of: casseroles, family recipes, homemade dishes, and even handwritten notes tucked alongside them.

What our families really gave was time. Time to walk in the door, sit down at the table, and just be with the people they love, without figuring out what's for dinner.

Thank you, Kolter PTO and Kolter families, for filling our teachers' plates and their hearts tonight. 🐾🫶🏼🥘

Freaky Friday was a HIT.

Big bows, athletic gear, slouchy socks, Kolter shirts…and a building full of adults having entirely too much fun.

The kids’ faces said it all. 💜🐾

Before covering up my Kolter shirt with this seasonally inappropriate sweatshirt, I proudly walked in wearing it.

This man spotted it and asked, “Does your shirt say Kolter? Because I’m the reason you’re the Kolter Cougars.”

I’M SORRY, WHAT, sir?!

Turns out, in fifth grade he submitted “Cougars” as an option for the school mascot. The students voted, Cougars won, and the rest is Kolter history.

But then, he told me, he couldn’t name one college professor, but at 63, he could name every teacher he had at Kolter. And his best friends today? Still the friends he made in elementary school.

That’s the goal for our kiddos. That 40, 50, even 60 years from now, they spot a random Kolter shirt across a restaurant and have a story to tell.

Once a Cougar… 💜🐾

A 30 year tradition ended today with Mother Goose visiting the PK classroom for the last time. With her nursery rhyme props and keyboard, Mother Goose and her interactive presentation entertained everyone in the classroom. It was a bittersweet goodbye, but we thank you Mother Goose for your silly rhymes that will strengthen the skills we need to read!

We kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a wonderful celebration of Mexican Independence Day!

Our students loved seeing the Meyerland Middle School Mariachi Band perform, and the campus was full of red, white, and green.

We also love seeing our library join in the celebration with a special Hispanic Heritage Month display! 🇲🇽📚🎶

Just a completely normal Wednesday at Kolter…

Today’s teacher challenge: Anything But a Cup. And judging by some of these choices, a few people really committed to the assignment.

The Cougars had questions. We offered very few answers.

And it’s only Wednesday… 👀 Stay tuned.

Yesterday was Jennie Katharine Kolter Day, and apparently telling Kolter kids and staff to “wear red, white and blue” is all it takes for everyone to completely lose their minds in the best possible way.

There was spirit everywhere. There was glitter everywhere. There may still be glitter everywhere.

But underneath all of the hype was one of those really good days on Runnymeade. Happy kids, proud teachers, big smiles and a whole lot of love for this little place we get to call Kolter.

Happy JKK Day, Cougars. You looked GOOD. Our namesake would be proud. 🐾🇺🇸🐾

Even Mother Nature knows how we do things around here, nothing halfway!

Double rainbows over Kolter this morning feels like the jackpot.

Grateful for mornings like this at our sweet school. 🌈🐾🌈

Our Kolter Cougars are putting caring into action!

September 8–11, we will be collecting travel-size supplies to create care packages for a local veterans home as part of our Veterans Day Project.

Each grade level is helping with a different item:

PK & Kinder: Travel size Toothbrushes
1st Grade: Chapstick
2nd & 3rd Grade: Travel size Toothpaste
4th Grade: Band-Aids
5th Grade: Travel size Hand sanitizer

Thank you for helping our Cougars learn what it truly means to be a Cougar Who Cares. We can’t wait to see all of these donations come together for our local veterans!
