When you’re tiling, especially large format tile it’s really important you’re using directional troweling to achieve proper thinset mortar for tile. Some of the best ways to do this is:
1. Use the right sized notched trowel for your tile and substrate
2. Use directional troweling especially for larger format tile, collapsed ridges means good coverage.
3. You need to be embedding your tile into the mortar this shouldn’t be a just drop it down and go. Either using your body weight to collapse the ridges or an electric vibration tool.
Following these industry best practices will result in a tile installation that can last a lifetime. Remember you need 95% or more coverage in a wet area and 80% or more in dry.

A few years ago, if you told me I’d be standing in a studio we built ourselves, filming a commercial for QuickBooks alongside a team of directors, producers, creatives, hair and makeup artists, brand partners, and one of the biggest names in business software, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
What makes this even more special is that none of this happened overnight. It came from showing up day after day. One project at a time. One video at a time. One lesson at a time.
As a contractor, business owner, content creator, and mom, there are plenty of days when it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day. But this experience was a reminder that progress doesn’t come from giant leaps. It comes from consistently showing up and being a little better than you were yesterday.
I’m incredibly grateful to the teams at QuickBooks, Intuit, Viral Nation, Collectively, and everyone behind the scenes who made this project happen. Every person in these photos played a role, and every one of them was talented, professional, and genuinely great to work with.
Building this studio was a leap of faith. Many people couldn’t see the vision at the time, but moments like this remind me exactly why we did it. We didn’t build it just to film tile projects. Its true purpose was to create opportunities, tell bigger stories, and open doors that didn’t exist before.
