🚨RESCUED FROM NEGLECT🚨
45 Chihuahua-mixes living in deplorable conditions in North Houston were rescued yesterday afternoon by our Animal Cruelty Investigators and our Law Enforcement partners, Office of Constable Alan Rosen, Harris County Constable Precinct 1.
They were brought to the Houston SPCA for immediate medical care from our veterinary team, and many have suffered significant hair loss and skin infections related to the conditions in which they were living.
This is an ongoing investigation, and the dogs are safe in our care. If you suspect animal cruelty or neglect, report it immediately by calling (713) 869-7722 or file a report online at: https://houstonspca.org/animal-cruelty-rescue-services/cruelty-investigation/

When you know, you know. ❤️
Grace's family traveled over 800 miles and followed her journey all the way to the Houston SPCA. As soon as the doors opened for Clear The Shelters in August, they knew exactly who they were there to adopt.
Today, Grace is thriving with her new family. Her adopters say that "She was very shy at first but now that she has warmed up she is such a gentle and loving dog. She is so chill and loves to just lounge around the house. Her and her brothers also love to run around the backyard and play together. She has done so well with our other dogs and cats! Grace is definitely the best addition to our family."
A special thank you to her new pet parents and Hill’s Pet Nutrition for keeping Grace healthy and ready to begin this wonderful chapter of her life!

🐿️ October is Squirrel Awareness Month!
Ever wonder what happens when a baby squirrel arrives at the Houston SPCA’s Wildlife Center?
From intake to release, every squirrel follows a careful rehabilitation process. Our wildlife team first assesses each animal’s condition and needs, then provides specialized care, including frequent feedings, cleaning, and monitoring as they grow.
As they become stronger and more independent, squirrels gradually spend more time developing the skills they will need to survive on their own. Once they are healthy, fully furred, eating independently, and ready to navigate the outdoors, they can take the next big step: returning to the wild. 🌳🐿️
Every stage of rehabilitation helps prepare these little squirrels for life on their own. 💚
Look at this amazing transformation. Meet Pita. ❤️
You might remember the heartbreaking case that brought this sweet puppy into our care. After surviving unimaginable cruelty, we're so happy to share that he's now living an amazing life surrounded by people who truly cherish him.
Every animal deserves the chance to start a new chapter, and seeing Pita’s story unfold is a beautiful reminder of why second chances matter. Thank you to everyone who played a part in his journey.
We're wishing Pita a life full of adventures with his new family!

Spotlight Saturday: Meet Draco💙
Draco (formerly Eric), was adopted in October 2025 after being brought in as an injured stray puppy. As soon as Draco's new family walked into the Houston SPCA and saw him in a volunteer's arms, they knew he was meant to be their dog.
His adopters say that "Draco is a working-breed mix and has A LOT of energy, so we’ve spent a lot of time working with him on training, socialization, manners, exercise, and mental stimulation. It has been so amazing watching him grow from that nervous little puppy into the happy, confident, goofy boy he is today. He loves going on walks, playing outside, riding in the car, getting belly rubs, chewing on his toys, getting treats, and most importantly, being wherever his people are. He is definitely a Velcro dog!"
Fun fact, tomorrow is Draco's 1-year adoption anniversary! Thank you to Draco's family for giving him the amazing life he deserves.
