I took the shortest but longest walk I have ever taken on yesterday … it was the walk from the back of the hurst to the foot of my mom’s grave. Those 57 steps felt like a 70 year journey through crisis and trauma and joys and lessons and skirmishes and forgiveness and ending with love. I’m grateful today for the gift God extended to me. The gift of walking my mama home.
Today is the only day you have for certain. Love y’all and thank you for the text messages, notes and expressions of love.

Several years ago, I asked God to let me take a long walk home with my mom. She will soon be 95 in October and I’m grateful for the time and the fact that we are still walking. Today we stopped by her favorite Hillstone Restaurant Group on Kirby for that AppleCobbler and reflected on the part of the journey we’ve already walked.
Nikki Ross Bellamy will be missed. In 2006 we started recording the song “Peace” for my first music project “The Pastor Rudy Experience” with Music World’s Spirit Rising label. The project was released and Nikki was nominated for a Stellar Award at the 2008 show in Nashville for the song and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have honored her incomparable gifts on that project. We journeyed over the years and I’m sending prayers and love to her family.
