Hello! We are Community Music Center of Houston, CMCH. We teach music lessons, have a community orchestra, and preserve Black Musical Traditions. Since our founding in 1979. we have collaborated with Beyoncé, Michael Prince , S.H.A.P.E. Community Center , Crown Royal, Miller Outdoor Theatre , The Conrad Johnson Orchestra (CJO) H-TownOrchestra Presents and so many others! Here’s a look back at CMCH’s 2024 tribute to the Philly Soul Sound, featuring the smooth strings, powerful brass, and timeless grooves that helped define an era of Black music. At CMCH, we are committed to preserving and celebrating the music that continues to inspire generations.

For more than four decades, Community Music Center of Houston has been preserving Black musical traditions while making quality music education accessible to students of all ages. Through performances by the Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra and year-around music education programs, CMCH continues to inspire, educate and strengthen our community.
