Youth Be Known is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. My name is Chenita Tayborn.

The organization works meticulously to enhance the lives of our most vulnerable children: those in foster care or at risk of entering the system at no fault of their own. I am the Founder of Youth Be Known, a 501 (c)(3) organization with services designed to support families who are adopting and fostering children from the public foster care system. Youth Be Known specializes in bringing awareness and advocacy to foster care and adoptive communities. Youth Be Known is inspired by the neglect and trauma of my childhood, the pain of my mother, the love of my grandparents, and the ability to forgive. I stand strong on the foundation I have built, because I know the pain and hurt I had to let go to get here.

You don’t have to navigate the foster care system alone. I’m here to teach you what I’ve learned through both my lived experience and my professional lenses.

I’ve experienced foster care from perspectives that very few people ever will. I’ve lived it as a child, served as a foster parent, become an adoptive mom, and now work professionally licensing and supporting foster families. That means everything I share comes from real experience, not just a textbook.

Last week alone, I licensed two foster homes and conducted virtual trainings with applicants who are in the final stages of becoming licensed foster parents. Watching families prepare to open their hearts and homes is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a foster parent, have questions about the licensing process, or simply want to understand how the foster care system really works, I’d love to help.

I will forever be grateful for every room God has opened for me to speak, advocate and educate others about the foster care experience. Every invitation is a reminder that our stories have purpose and that our pain can become someone else’s hope. I can never take those opportunities immediately for granted.

One of the greatest blessings is being able to share this journey with my good friend, Calandra. Together , we bring more than knowledge to these conversations. We bring our hearts. We both know the foster care system intimately, not only through our work, but through our lives. We each parent siblings from foster care , and that shared experience makes our voice authentic, compassionate, and deeply connected to the families we serve.

Presenting “Nurturing the Well-being of Foster & Adoptive Parents” was incredibly personal for both of us. We know the joy, the heartbreak, the uncertainty be safe because, the victories and the commitment it takes to love children from hard places. To stand before others and pour into parents who are choosing to open their hearts and home is one of the greatest honors we could ever receive.

My passion has never changed. From the very beginning , my heart has been to advocate for children, strengthen families, and help people see the beauty , resilience, and hope that exists within the foster care community. That calling has o my grown stronger with every child I’ve loved, every family I’ve encouraged, and every story I’ve had the privilege to hear.

When I look back over my life, I can only say that God has been so incredibly good to me. He has carried me through seasons I never imagined I would have survive, and He continues to open doors that only He can could open. I am humbled He would trust me with this assignment and allow me to walk in the purpose He placed on my life. Every opportunity is a reminder that His promises are faithful, His timing is perfect, and His plans are greater than anything I could have imagined.

I pray I never lose the gratitude, the compassion, or the passion that brought me here in the first place. As long as God continues to open doors,I will continue to walk through them❣️
