What happens when the way we see something changes what we believe is there? Leanna Primiani's VISIONS explores that question through five movements examining the gap between human perception and reality.
Drawing inspiration from quantum mechanics, vision care, color blindness, dyslexia, and the Hubble Space Telescope, Primiani transforms each into a musical exploration of how we see, what we miss, and how perception shapes our understanding of the world.
Commissioned by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation in partnership with the League of American Orchestras and American Composers Orchestra, VISIONS receives its world premiere at ROCO In Concert: Eyes on the Horizon on September 25–26.

ROCO is proud to honor acclaimed fashion designer Chloe Dao with its 2026 Wildcatting in the Arts Award, celebrating her remarkable achievements and contributions to Houston's communities.
An artist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Season 2 winner of Project Runway, Chloe has made her mark on Houston's fashion scene for nearly two decades. Through partnerships with local organizations, Chloe uses her platform to give back to the city and create opportunities for women to elevate themselves.

From his images to her score, Alison Shearer's tribute to her father comes to life in the world premiere performance of The Light Paintings on September 25-26.
A deeply personal collaboration across time, Alison's concerto for saxophone and chamber orchestra is shaped by her late father John Shearer's final artistic chapter – a collection of abstract artwork called The Light Paintings. The artwork will be exhibited publicly for the first time alongside the world premiere of Alison's score, featuring the composer herself on saxophone.
