Lakewood Leadership Program
The Lakewood Leadership Program exists to Develop the Leader Within
Busy doesn’t always mean effective.
Pastor Jeremy challenged us to ask: Are we accomplishing our mission? Are we being faithful stewards? Are we actually producing fruit?
As interns, we’re learning that numbers and activity aren’t the measure of a healthy ministry. The fruit is.

Calling isn’t always a title, it’s the intersection of who God created you to be, the gifts He’s placed in you, and the people He’s called you to serve.
Learning that vocation isn’t just about what I do, but why I do it, has changed the way I see leadership. When purpose leads, leadership becomes service
God has blessed each of us with unique talents, wisdom, knowledge, and abilities. But those blessings were never meant to stop with us. We’re called to use what God has given us to reflect His image, steward His creation, and bring His Kingdom into the world around us.
What has God placed in your hands, and how are you using it for Him?

Hard conversations are part of healthy relationships and healthy ministry.
As interns, we’re learning that growth requires humility, honesty, and the willingness to have conversations that may be uncomfortable. Sometimes the conversations we want to avoid are the ones God uses to shape our character and make us better leaders.
When we try to do things on our own, relying on our own experiences, knowledge, and abilities to reach our goals, we can miss the way God wants to use us.
We weren’t created to figure it all out on our own. When we surrender our plans to Jesus and depend on Him, we make room for Him to lead us, stretch us, and use us in ways we never could on our own.
Rest is important, but laziness doesn’t equal rest. God gave us time, gifts, and purpose, so when we’re not resting, what are we doing with the time He gave us? Don’t waste what God entrusted to you.

As disciples of Jesus, we’re called to examine the fruit in our lives and in the lives of those around us. To judge righteously by looking at their fruits. Are they bearing fruit? Are there actions allowed with the Word of God?
Our fruit reveals what’s taking root in our hearts.
God has never needed perfect people to accomplish His purposes. He uses broken people, imperfect people, and people who are still being formed.
As interns, we’re learning that ministry isn’t about having it all together. It’s about allowing God to work through who we are and trusting Him to use our lives for His glory.

Ministry is a marathon, not a sprint.
You can serve faithfully and still rest. You can love people deeply and still have boundaries. We’re learning that sometimes obedience looks like slowing down and trusting God to carry what you were never meant to carry.
Not everything God calls you to do will be seen by people. Some of your greatest acts of obedience will happen behind the scenes, without recognition, applause, or credit. But Heaven sees it.
Keep serving. Keep showing up. Keep doing it unto the Lord. We don’t serve for the applause of people. We serve because we love God and want to advance his kingdom. What feels invisible on earth is never invisible to Heaven.
