Beginning Aug. 31, a section of the White Oak Bayou Greenway near Shepherd Drive is closed due to a slope stabilization issue caused by recent rains.

The Harris County Flood Control District is assessing the area and working to further stabilize the slope. Please use the MKT Trail as a detour until further notice.

We appreciate your patience as this work is underway and encourage trail users to plan ahead using the trail map linked in the comments below.

Attention all local riders! You must have already heard that the long rickety bridge aka The Boardwalk in George Bush Park has been closed for repairs. In addition, the whole segment between the east end of the bridge and the trail across the small wooden bridge off the soccer fields (see photo below) is closed. Do not despair - there are several options to bypass the middle of the park to continue your training and recreation by bike. Here is one for all bikes that can ride on gravel: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45486948 The gravel bit is the levee that loops around the south east side of George Bush Park. The rest of the trails are paved. We will add more route ideas in the comments.
