🌟 Teacher Spotlight: Cheryne Busch, Upper School Principal 🌟

A globally respected educator, coach, and choreographer, Ms. Busch joined Houston Ballet Academy in 1998 after an accomplished career in South Africa. For more than two decades, she has helped guide young dancers through expert training, performance opportunities, and artistic growth.

Her passion for developing the next generation of artists continues to inspire our Academy community every day. 💙

Houston Ballet is going back to school.

Last year, our Education & Community Engagement team brought free and low-cost dance programming to 371 schools across 41 districts, making it one of the region's largest arts-in-education efforts. This fall, we’re doing it again.

Legend has it a few young dancers rode into the spotlight alongside Houston Ballet's company... and left as bona fide stars.

Our Houston Ballet Academy students saddled up next to HB company dancers in Stanton Welch's PECOS BILL — sharing that stage is no rodeo for beginners. But these students didn't just show up, they rode tall, hit their mark, and owned every second of it.

We're proud, we are inspired, and cheering y'all on every step of this wild ride.

She danced Swan Lake on Cuba's grandest stages. Now she's bringing that legacy straight to our studios.

Meet Dalirys — trained in the rigor of the National Ballet School in Havana, shaped by the legends of the Cuban School of Ballet, and seasoned as a Principal Dancer with Ballet de Monterrey performing the world's greatest classics on some of the biggest stages around.

As our Upper School Principal Ballet Instructor — she brings every bit of that fire with her. 🔥

They're here!! 🎉 Please join us in welcoming our 2026–2027 HBII class to Houston!

This is the company's next generation, dancers who've spent years building toward exactly this moment, and now they get to build it here, with us. New city, new stage, new chapter.

We can't wait to see what they bring to it. Welcome to Houston Ballet. Let's GO!!

Twenty-five years ago, Ben Stevenson OBE saw something in a young teacher named Claudio Muñoz and brought him onto the Houston Ballet Academy faculty — the start of a legacy still written today.

When Stanton Welch AM became Artistic Director in 2003, he gave Claudio a role built around him: founding Ballet Master of Houston Ballet II, a title no one else has ever held.

At the end of 2026, Claudio steps into a new chapter as Guest Principal Instructor — a transition, not a goodbye. Come March 2027, he'll be back in the studio, coaching students for My First Ballet: Sleeping Beauty and the Academy's Spring Showcase.

Twenty-five years. One faculty. One legacy. Thank you, Claudio.
