Alpha Search And Recovery
Highly qualified volunteers dedicated to finding the missing. Search and Rescue team based in Houston, TX.
Alpha Search and Recovery team members are all volunteers, who dedicate their own time and resources to locating missing persons. All Alpha SAR members receive training in all areas involved in effective and cooperative search and rescue teams. Team members are trained in Incident Command System, which is part of the National Incident Management System used by FEMA and most branches of the Federal Government. Having members trained in ICS and NIMS allows the team to efficiently partner with other government agencies for searches and disaster relief. Team members are also trained to become a SARTech II as outlined by the National Association of Search And Rescue. All training is provided to Alpha SAR members and member candidates free of charge.
We are grateful to work with our partners at HCSO and TEXSAR. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Nowak.

Whew! We're hitting triple digits this weekend for trailing day! Heat conditioning is so important in the Texas summer. Handlers are taking plenty of breaks and watching close for heat injury in our dogs and people! However, the pool has mixed reviews... 🤨🥵🐾🧊☀️🔥

One year since the devastating flooding along the Guadalupe River, we pause to remember.
Alpha SAR was honored to answer the call alongside countless first responders, emergency personnel, search and rescue teams, volunteers, and agencies from across the state, the nation, and around the world. Together, we worked tirelessly in the face of unimaginable devastation.
The strength and unity shown during those difficult days are memories we will carry with us forever. We recognize the extraordinary compassion, dedication, and resilience of the families and communities that continue to heal from such an immeasurable loss.
Today and always, we stand beside you and remain

We had the great privilege of nominating Linda Cooke for the 2026 Volunteer Houston Recognition Award; honored at the Mayor's Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. Linda has been a dedicated and dependable volunteer for the past two years. Her willingness to participate in demanding and unpredictable training scenarios helps ensure that our canines are prepared for the wide variety of situations they may encounter in the field. We are grateful for Linda’s steady support and the meaningful impact she has made through her volunteer service to Alpha SAR. Thank you for all that you do! 🐾
