🚨 12-YEAR-OLD SHOT IN CYPRESS AREA — FAMILY CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF GUNFIRE 🚨

CYPRESS, TEXAS — A 12-year-old child is hospitalized after being caught in the middle of a shooting involving two vehicles Friday night in northwest Harris County.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 8700 block of Barker Cypress Road near West Road, where they learned a child had been shot while sitting inside his parents’ minivan.

The minivan was occupied by the child, his parents and three siblings. The family was parked outside a business, waiting for another family member to come outside.

According to investigators, a dark-colored sedan traveling northbound on Barker Cypress Road opened fire toward a lifted black truck that was traveling through the parking lot.

The family’s minivan happened to be positioned between the two vehicles as the sedan traveled parallel to the truck and fired multiple rounds.

One of those bullets struck the 12-year-old near the shoulder area.

The child was transported to a hospital and is currently listed in fair condition.

Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate exactly what led to the gunfire and identify those responsible.

A tragic investigation that began more than a month ago has now led to a murder charge against a 14-year-old juvenile in connection with the death of 17-year-old Tavian Soileau.

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Precinct 3 deputies responded to the 12800 block of Montclair Bend, near Tidwell Road and E. Sam Houston Parkway North, after receiving a report of an injured person inside a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they discovered 17-year-old Tavian Soileau deceased inside the vehicle.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office conducted the scene investigation and continued with follow-up investigative work.

Then, yesterday, authorities arrested a 14-year-old juvenile and transported the teen to the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.

The juvenile has been charged with Murder for their alleged involvement in the death of Tavian Soileau.

🔴 A 17-year-old is dead. A 14-year-old is now facing a murder charge.

🚨🚨 BREAKING: 17-YEAR-OLD WESTBURY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IDENTIFIED AFTER DEADLY SHOOTING 🚨🚨

HOUSTON, TEXAS — The victim killed in Friday morning’s shooting near Westbury High School has been identified as 17-year-old LePaul Warren, according to reports.

Warren was a Westbury High School senior and varsity athlete, playing football as a wide receiver and also competing on the school’s varsity basketball team.

Police say the shooting happened around 8:20 a.m. near Dryad Drive and Chimney Rock, near the school campus. Investigators say a group of young people had gathered in the area when a person reportedly emerged from a wooded area. A confrontation followed, and a handgun was reportedly produced before Warren was shot.

Warren was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Another Houston-area family is now grieving the loss of a teenager who should have been preparing for graduation, playing sports and building his future.

The shooting occurred outside the school, and officials said students and staff inside the campus were safe. The campus was placed in secure mode as law enforcement investigated.

According to investigators, two male suspects riding bicycles allegedly forced their way into a locked shed on the church property, gaining unauthorized access to the building.

• Approximately 6'0"–6'5" tall
• Approximately 200 pounds each
• Suspects were reportedly riding bicycles

HOUSTON — This morning, another Houston-area family is facing an unimaginable loss.

A 17-year-old Westbury High School senior was shot and killed Friday morning near the school, according to Houston police. The shooting happened off campus near Chimney Rock Road and Dryad Drive. The shooter remains at large, and investigators are working to identify the person responsible.

And here's what should have EVERY parent, educator and law enforcement agency asking questions:

HOW ARE THESE CHILDREN GETTING THESE GUNS?

This is the second fatal shooting of a Houston-area high school student near a school in just days.

On Tuesday, 15-year-old Westfield High School student Royce Witchet was fatally shot near the Spring ISD campus. A 14-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

Two young lives.

Two families devastated.

Two deadly shootings involving students.

And once again, we have to ask:

🔴 WHERE ARE THESE GUNS COMING FROM?

At HTX Media, we believe accountability cannot stop with finding and charging the person who allegedly pulled the trigger.

Investigators should also work to determine where the firearm came from and, if evidence establishes that someone illegally provided or transferred the weapon, hold that person accountable under applicable law.

If a child is unlawfully getting access to a firearm, we need to know how that happened.

Was the gun stolen?

Was it illegally purchased or transferred?

Was it improperly stored?

Did someone knowingly provide it to a minor?

Those questions matter because finding the shooter addresses one part of the problem. Tracing the firearm could help investigators identify how the weapon reached the hands of a young person in the first place.

We cannot bring these students back.

But we can demand answers about how these guns are reaching our children — and whether anyone else should be held legally responsible.

This is about two families who woke up this week expecting their children to come home.

Instead, they're planning funerals.

🚨 PROMISE MADE — BUT WAS IT KEPT? GRIEVING MOTHER SENT INVOICE TOTALING NEAR $10,000 🚨

The family of a 5-year-old Houston girl who was tragically killed in a shooting is now raising serious questions about what happened after Pruitt Funeral Home publicly indicated that it would handle the child’s funeral arrangements and services pro bono.

According to the grieving mother, that promise was not fulfilled.

Now, local activists Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanel X say they conducted their own investigation into what happened.

According to their investigation, Pruitt Funeral Home sent the grieving mother an invoice totaling nearly $10,000.

But there’s another detail that has raised even more questions.

The activists say the invoice did not clearly state that the mother was not responsible for paying it.

However, according to Matthews and Quanel X, their investigation found that the purpose of sending the invoice to the mother was reportedly for her to sign the document so Pruitt Funeral Home could then submit the invoice to local crime-victim assistance organizations in an effort to have those organizations cover the funeral expenses.

That distinction is important.

The mother was grieving the loss of her 5-year-old daughter while, according to the activists’ findings, a nearly $10,000 invoice was placed in front of her.

The questions now being raised include:

❓ Why was the invoice sent directly to the grieving mother?

❓ Why didn't the invoice clearly state that she was not responsible for paying it?

❓ Was the invoice intended solely as documentation so the funeral home could seek reimbursement from crime-victim assistance organizations?

❓ And most importantly — what happened to the original promise that the funeral services would be provided pro bono?

Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanel X say their investigation uncovered information they believe provides additional context surrounding the invoice and the funeral home's efforts to obtain payment.

🚨🔴 BREAKING — IPAD ALLEGEDLY CAPTURED FATAL SHOOTING OF HOUSTON WOMAN’S BOYFRIEND

HOUSTON, TEXAS — A deadly shooting investigation has taken a shocking turn after investigators say an iPad recording allegedly captured the moment an 18-year-old Houston woman fatally shot her boyfriend.

According to court documents, Emily Abigail Perez, 18, is accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend, 18-year-old Diego Cornejo, inside a residence on Fondren Road near Bellerive Drive.

Houston police responded to the home after receiving a report of a shooting. Cornejo was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say Perez told police the couple had been handling a recently purchased firearm and were playing with the gun’s laser and light.

Perez allegedly told investigators that she believed the gun was unloaded when she pointed it at Cornejo and pulled the trigger.

But investigators reportedly discovered that Perez had been recording a vlog on an iPad at the time.

According to charging documents, investigators reviewed the recording and say it captured the shooting. The documents also state that Cornejo could allegedly be heard saying “esta cargado,” which investigators translated as “it’s loaded.”

🔴 CHARGED SIX MONTHS AFTER DEADLY SHOOTING

Perez has now been charged with manslaughter in connection with Cornejo’s death.

The charge was filed September 18, approximately six months after the fatal shooting. Authorities say Perez was subsequently arrested by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders' Task Force.

Her bond was reportedly set at $50,000.
