HARRIETT KANE arrived at a local shelter showing unusual symptoms, including a head tilt, abnormal eye movements, and spinning in circles. These could stem from an inner ear infection, a previous injury, a neurological condition, or another underlying issue. She is also underweight. Despite these challenges, she has a good appetite, walks okay, and is friendly with both people and other pets.

Hariett Kane had an indentation in her neck fur, indicating she once had a collar and an owner, but unfortunately, she was never claimed. Because the shelter lacked the resources for further medical testing, they reached out to rescue groups.

She is now safe with us and has an appointment scheduled with a neurologist at Texas A&M next week. We hope to identify and treat the cause of her condition. In the meantime, she is safe, happy, and enjoying her time in our care. 🙏❤

RCR Alum GERARD (the little blonde one) recently flew from Houston, TX to his new home in Indianapolis, IN. He quickly settled right in and is already best friends with his two new sisters! We love these happy endings! Hope to hear from you again soon, Gerard!🥰

Today, the 25th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we remember the lives lost and honor the extraordinary courage of those who came together in the aftermath. Among them were countless search-and-rescue teams and working dogs who searched tirelessly alongside their handlers.

How can it be that perfect little PHILIPPE hasn't found his forever home yet?

He looks like a Chorkie, a combination of Chihuahua and Yorkie. Not only is he cute as can be, but he also has a very sweet & gentle personality. We estimate he is about 2-3 years old and weighs 7 lbs. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and loves human attention, belly rubs, and treats.

Remember LINDA, who escaped her new home within hours of arriving but was thankfully recovered after two very long days?

Here she is three weeks later, acting like her new parents are the best thing on earth! They are being extremely cautious with her and know that she will require extra care for a long time.

Linda (now Mattie) is a shy dog who is afraid of strangers, and overcoming this takes time. Thankfully, she is getting all the love and patience she needs.

A month ago, COCOA BEAN was in critical condition—severely matted, suffering from old bite wounds, and infested with maggots. After spending several days in the emergency vet, she went home with a loving foster mom and is getting stronger every day. Once she is fully healed and her bloodwork normalizes, she will undergo surgery to be spayed and have her damaged left eye removed.

Cocoa Bean weighs just 10 pounds and is estimated to be around 11 months old. We believe she may be a Brussels Griffon, though we will know more once her coat grows back in. She is extremely gentle and sweet, and while it is heartbreaking that she was allowed to get into such rough shape, that is now in the past. TOBY Keith (TK) had another check-up this week. He is currently in a medical foster home, after spending 3 weeks in 24/7 critical care. He faces continuing health challenges including diabetes, EPI-pancreatic insufficiency, Ehrlichia, heartworms, and a dislocated hip.

The most pressing issue is his fluctuating glucose levels, which require constant monitoring and insulin titration. Once his glucose is under control, he will have orthopedic surgery for his hip and be neutered.

On a positive note, Toby Keith's weight has increased from 6 to 10.5 pounds. While he still needs to gain weight, the veterinary team is very pleased with this progress.

RUBI is celebrating both LABOR DAY and her ADOPTION DAY! 🥰

RCR Alum Ivan (L) and his dad have been fostering Rubi (R) who was rescued from the shelter kill-list due to overcrowding on Valentine's Day! They quickly became an inseparable trio and today Rubi is officially a permanent member of their family! We love these Happy Tails and smiling faces! Wishing you the BEST LIFE ever, Rubi! ❤

GRIZZY has her spay surgery last week and is now fully vetted and ready for her furever home! This cutie pie is approximately 11 months old and weighs only 10 pounds. She looks like a cross between a long-hair Chihuahua, a Dachshund, and possibly a Papillon.

This baby girl was trying to survive alone on the streets of Houston when a bigger animal attacked her. Luckily, a citizen intervened and took her to a nearby animal shelter. We were contacted, immediately picked her up, and went straight to the vet. She had some nasty bite wounds, but fortunately no broken bones.

Grizzy never let her condition dampen her spirit! She loves playing with her foster siblings and would do best in a home with another pup her size. She also loves human affection and cuddling for some much needed TLC. And of course belly rubs and tasty treats are also on her favorites list!
