Twenty-five years ago today, we lost nearly 3,000 lives in an act of unimaginable violence. We also witnessed extraordinary courage — first responders who ran toward danger, communities that came together, and a nation that chose unity over fear.
Today, we pause to honor those we lost, to thank those who serve and protect us still, and to remember what we're capable of when we stand together.
Never forget.

Thirty years! Allen Austin opened in Houston in 1996, and today we are celebrating.
We started with one idea and a lot of nerve. Clients deserved a leader who would still be winning three years later, not a stack of resumes by Friday. Three decades later, that is still the whole job, and we love it.
Getting the right leader into the right seat is the most rewarding work there is. We are grateful for every client who has trusted us with a decision that mattered, and honored that so many of you keep coming back. That trust is the reason we made it 30 years.
We look forward to the years ahead and to the clients and leaders we get to work with next!

Please join us in wishing a very Happy Birthday to Rob Andrews, our Founder & CEO.
Since founding Allen Austin in 1996, Rob has spent his career helping boards, CEOs, and senior leaders build high-performance cultures and lasting enterprise value. Over three decades of advising leaders worldwide, he's redefined what executive search and leadership advisory can be.
But ask anyone here, and they'll tell you his greatest impact is felt in the relationships he builds and the people he develops.
Happy Birthday, Rob. We're grateful to learn from you every day.

Most executive searches begin with a job description.
The strongest ones begin with a question.
Before a search ever launches, the most important work is understanding what an organization truly needs — not just what it thinks it needs. The role that's been assumed. The profile that's been recycled. The expectations that haven't been fully discussed.
That gap between assumption and reality is exactly where searches run into trouble.
Every engagement at Allen Austin begins with a needs analysis. It's a discovery process designed to surface what's actually required — the mandate, the culture, the leadership gaps, and what success genuinely looks like. That clarity shapes everything that follows.
When the foundation is right, the search moves faster, lands better, and produces leaders who succeed long-term.

Pressure to fill a role quickly is understandable.
But in executive search, urgency that shortcuts the process almost always costs more in the end.
A misaligned hire. An onboarding that struggles from the start. A search that has to begin again — with more time lost, more disruption, and a higher cost than a thoughtful process would have ever required.
The organizations that avoid this don't just move fast. They move with discipline.
Our process is built to do both. We do the upfront work — clarifying the mandate, aligning stakeholders, and defining what success truly looks like — so the search itself can move efficiently and land well.
The goal isn't a faster search. It's the right hire, as quickly as possible.

At this past Leading Ahead of the Curve Leadership Breakfast, Pattye Moore shared what she believes is the most critical responsibility of a board: succession planning.
Strong organizations don't wait for a retirement announcement or leadership crisis to begin thinking about the future. They make succession planning an ongoing, deliberate process.
How does your organization approach succession planning?

Leadership Lessons with Liz Townsend
Trust isn’t measured on a dashboard—but it shows up in every part of an organization’s performance.
One of the patterns Liz sees most often in her work with leadership teams is this: organizations can have the right strategy, the right people, and the right resources—and still struggle to move.
Not because capability is missing.
Because trust is.
When trust erodes, everything slows. Decisions drag. Collaboration becomes surface-level. Information gets held back—not out of bad intent, but out of self-protection.
In the organizations that move fastest, trust isn’t assumed. It’s built deliberately—through consistency, transparency, and a willingness to have honest conversations, even when they’re uncomfortable.
And once it’s there, everything changes.
Teams move with clarity.
People speak up sooner.
Problems get solved before they become crises.
If things feel slower than they should, it’s worth asking: is trust actually there?
That’s often where the work begins.
