One thing I wish more single people believed:

Your life doesn’t start when you meet someone.

Go to the dinner.

Take the trip.

Wear the outfit.

Make plans you’re excited about.

Build a life you genuinely enjoy living.

Wanting a relationship doesn’t mean everything else has to feel like the waiting room.

The best relationships add to a life that already feels like yours.

Wanting someone doesn’t always mean they’ll actually make a move.

Sometimes the interest is obvious everywhere except in what they’re willing to say.

Here are 7 signs they may want you but still be holding back:

➡️ They keep finding reasons to be around you.

They linger after conversations, show up where you are, or turn quick interactions into longer ones.

➡️ They start conversations they don’t really need to start.

They message you about little things, ask easy questions, or find excuses to keep talking.

➡️ They flirt, then immediately tone it down.

They tease you, compliment you, or say something suggestive, then quickly laugh it off.

➡️ They keep looking at you when they think you won’t notice.

You catch them watching you, and they look away as soon as they realize you saw.

➡️ They get physically closer without actually making a move.

They sit beside you, lean in when you talk, or keep shrinking the space between you.

➡️ They give you openings instead of asking you out directly.

They mention places they want to go, things you’d both enjoy, or plans they “might” make.

➡️ They get more obvious when you flirt back.

A little encouragement from you suddenly makes them more playful, confident, or engaged.

One of these on its own can mean almost anything.

But when several keep happening with the same person, there may be a reason they’re hovering right at the edge of making a move.

Ghostlighting is what happens when someone ghosts you… then comes back acting like nothing ever happened.

It’s confusing, dismissive, and way more common than people realize.

Liking someone when you’re not sure they like you back usually makes people a little cautious.

They flirt, then pull it back.

They test the waters instead of saying exactly what they mean.

They get bolder when you give them something to work with… then retreat the second they think they misread you.

One of those behaviors on its own can mean almost anything.

But when several of them keep happening together, it can start to look a lot less like mixed signals and a lot more like someone who’s scared they’re the only one feeling it.

Have you ever realized later that someone liked you and you completely missed it?

When one person in a relationship is significantly more successful or financially powerful, the money itself isn’t always the biggest issue.

The bigger question is whether both people are secure enough to let each other succeed without turning the relationship into a competition.

That’s what stands out to me about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

He has his own career and identity, but he also seems completely comfortable supporting her while she takes up a massive amount of space in the public eye.

A confident partner doesn’t need you to shrink so they can feel bigger.

That matters a lot more than whose net worth has more zeroes.

AI is already changing dating apps in ways most people probably aren’t prepared for.

The biggest issue isn’t just that people are using AI to write better messages. It’s that the person you’re getting to know online may sound completely different once you actually meet them.

At some point, dating profiles and conversations have to reflect the real person behind them.

Because if AI is doing all the flirting for you, what happens when the date starts?

If you keep ending up with the same kind of person, it may not be bad luck.

Sometimes the pattern is in what feels familiar, what you’re willing to overlook, or how much effort you’re willing to put into making the wrong connection work.

Changing who you date usually starts with changing what you keep accepting.

Which of these three patterns do you think is the hardest to break?

Ask For 3 Fingers. That's How You Spot AI.

You're on a video call. They look perfect. Their story checks out. But are they real or AI-generated?

Here's a simple test: ask them to hold up three fingers.

Most AI-generated images can't execute that command. Hands are notoriously difficult for AI to replicate in real-time interaction. If they hesitate, fumble, or can't do it, you've got your answer.

It sounds silly. It's actually effective.

This is the reality of modern dating: deepfakes are improving. AI-generated profiles are becoming more convincing. Photos can be edited beyond recognition. The only way to verify someone is actually human is live, interactive video where they can't script the response.

→ Photos can be fabricated.

→ Messages can be AI-written.

→ Profiles can be entirely fictional.

→ Real-time video interaction is the only verification that works.

At Luma, we encourage video calls early specifically because they cut through manufactured personas. A real person can hold up three fingers on command. A real person can have spontaneous conversation. A real person shows personality that doesn't feel scripted.

Don't skip the video call. Don't accept excuses about "wanting to text more first." Video early. Verify they're real. Then decide if connection exists.

Your time is too valuable for catfishing.

Trying not to fall for someone usually doesn’t look like complete indifference.

It looks more like push and pull.

They get closer, then create distance.

They open up, then get guarded.

They find reasons it wouldn’t work… but still keep finding reasons to come back.

One of these behaviors on its own can mean almost anything.

But when several of them keep happening together, there may be more going on than they’re willing to admit.

Have you ever watched someone clearly try to talk themselves out of liking you?
