We stopped by for an afternoon coffee and treat! Yemex offers some really unique pastries and unique coffee drinks. Out of the 2 specialty coffee beans, we chose the Haimi Anaerobic pourover which had notes of blackberry jam, starbursts, dark chocolate, cream, jelly beans, and mangoes. The labne and za'atar croissants is one of my favorite croissants in all of Houston!

🍲 NEW Chinese chicken pot & deli restaurant in Houston! Yazhaifuren specializes in chicken hot pot and braised foods. This restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away in the corner of Sterling Plaza.

For this kind of hot pot, it's recommended to eat the meat and veggies first. As the broth boils down throughout your meal, you can use the reduction as a sauce for your rice at the end for the ultimate flavor bomb 💣.

If you're looking for something quick, inside they also have a deli counter inside where you can also order 40+ different freshly prepared sides to take home! These are so convenient for meal prepping! The corn sausage and smoked chicken really good out to me.

Finally checked out this really cute Viet cafe! It was almost evening when I visited, so I opted to order tea instead of coffee. The matcha einspanner is perfect for those who like their drinks creamy and smooth. The einspanner comes with a cute little shovel for the cream! 🪏 Their interior is so cute and cozy.

Friendswood's latest coffee and tea shop is open! ☕ We stopped by for an afternoon pick me up and ordered the karak chai. Karak chai means "strong tea" and it's a strongly brewed black tea base with spices and milk. It was thick and rich, perfect for sipping and chilling for an hour or two. They also have plenty of espresso and matcha offerings which I'll have to try soon! "At Nawa, the story begins."

Living in a very Sichuan time of my life 🔥 Spicy and flavorful, Sichuan food is perfect for those needing that extra kick in their life. I recently revisited Wula Buhuan in Energy Corridor after several years and it's as great as I remembered!

The menu has a good variety of hot and cold dishes, different proteins, and spice levels, so there's something for everyone! I definitely recommend ordering a few dishes from the chef's special section of the menu. The portions here are huge and it's so worth taking home the leftovers! I'm a big fan of the contrast of taking a bite of the numbing mala seasoning and then cooling down my tongue with a starch.

Houston's new gyukatsu restaurant 🥩 Steak gyukatsu is Japanese breaded and deep fried cutlet. At Ryori Lab, there's 3 choices of beef. I opted for the cheapest option of 8 oz of NY strip. The meal comes out and then you're given a hot stone to finish off the beef. The meal also includes a soup, salad, curry sauce, veggies, rice, and 3 seasonings. For $22.90, I think it's a solid meal set!

Other options for beef include beef tongue and A5 wagyu. Gyukatsu is their unique point, but the menu actually has quite a number of other options as well.

Kessho chocolate is quickly becoming my obsession! I always drop by their food truck whenever I'm in Austin. Some of their latest creations are these Asian inspired flavored Dubai chocolate bars. One bar comes with 4 squares. These were so decadent and rich!
