Speed does not replace control. It exposes it.

The goal is for athletes to keep organizing the body as the demand increases — then use what we see to coach the next step.

Assess. Coach. Develop.

Featuring athletes from AVA Texas.

For an athlete who is new to us, an evaluation gives us a clearer starting point.

We look at how the athlete accelerates, slows down, controls positions, coordinates movement, and produces force. That movement profile helps us decide what needs coaching first and which training environment fits.

The evaluation is not a grade. It gives the training a reason.

Speed is not only about how fast an athlete accelerates.

It is also about how well they can stop, absorb force, and control their position.

When athletes need extra steps to slow down, they lose time before the next move. That matters in every cut, transition, and change of direction.

We teach athletes to own the stop so they can get back to speed faster.

Save this and watch what happens before the next acceleration.

Congratulations, Paige Helpenstill! Paige was selected from 29 entries in our AVA uniform-pickup raffle for the AIS lululemon T-shirt.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to try a Sport React drill or test their vertical on the OVR system. It was good meeting so many AVA families.

AIS Sports Performance is hiring a part-time Developmental Coach in Houston, Texas.

We are looking for someone who wants to learn how to coach young athletes inside a structured athletic-development system. This role requires consistency, professionalism, clear communication, coachability, and the willingness to learn and apply the AIS coaching standard.

Consistent Monday–Friday afternoon and evening availability is required. Experience coaching or working with children and adolescents is valuable, but the right fit matters more than simply filling a shift.

To be considered, email your resume and a short note explaining why you want to coach young athletes at AIS to [email protected]

Athletes deserve prepared coaches.

Strength training for athletes is not only about how much weight they can lift.

The better question is: Can they control their body, absorb force, and use that strength when the game speeds up?

We train strength to improve the positions and movements sport demands. Control. Force production. Deceleration. Reacceleration.

Strength only matters when it transfers.

Save this for the next time someone measures athlete strength by the weight on the bar alone.

Confidence is not something we can talk an athlete into.

It grows when they understand the task, own the position, and get enough quality exposure to see themselves improve.

Clear coaching gives athletes problems they can solve. Repeated exposure gives them evidence they can trust.

Competence creates confidence.

Send this to a parent or coach who wants to build confidence the right way.

Two athletes can want the same result and still need completely different training.

“I need to get faster” tells us the goal. It does not tell us the starting point.

One athlete may need better projection and force application. Another may need better coordination, strength, or control before adding more speed.

A good plan starts with what the athlete is showing right now.

Assessment comes before prescription.

Send this to a sports parent who thinks every speed problem has the same solution.
